Bodybuilding 4 weeks out...

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
Taking a stab at it again this year after a disappointing return to bodybuilding after a 10 year layoff last year. Hitting the stage April 25th. Dieted 8 weeks last year 13 weeks this time around. I am down to 229 lbs. from 256 lbs. and I am obsessed with making this show a complete success.

Anyone else competing in bodybuilding or other athletic endeavours this year?

In all seriousness, if you want some consultation (non-AAS haha), shoot me a PM. Not to sound cocky, but you WILL BENEFIT from a convo w/me. In the same breath, I can ask you a million ?'s about using a rotary, because to be honest, I need the help!!!

If you frequent "those" boards you just might recognize my handle...

I used to lift weights pretty regularly, but more strength training than sculpting. Now I am into road biking and hope to compete in the Hotter than Hell 100 mile ride this coming August. Way ahead of last year in miles, I had 420 at the end of March, right now I am at 872 for the year. I am actually 250 miles ahead of where I was at the end of April last year. :)

My main problem is getting time for some really long rides. So far my longest this year was 42 miles.

Its a Natty show. I competed in the WNBF in the late 90's. Drug tested 7 years clean required. I would not consider drug use for bodybuilding, but if I had a chance to play in the NFL with millions $$$ on the line then I would see the benefits.

Regardless, any questions about rotary use shoot me a PM.

Any money to be made in this show.......?

Or is it just a personal test......?

Trying to regain pro status at this show. Not a lot of dough at the natural level the World overall Champ gets $6k and thats the pinacle.

I am now 39, and fighting father time every step of the way. This time around I want to show the young bucks this old dog still has plenty of bite left to him.

I did some road biking for a while, and bought a Trek composite bike. At about 235-240 lbs. I was going through rims every week. Now I stick with my mountain bike, but still think I'm a kid and bent up a set of handle bars last year.

Good luck with the 100 mile ride, I guess you won't schedule any details the following day. :)

i won the mr eastern usa in 86 when i was 37, masters came in second overall, npc comp. i've been bodybuilding since i was 13 yrs. old, never stopped, i'm in my 46th yr. it gets harder as you get older but then you learn to train smarter. i never used steroids that's why i think i'm still around doing it. anyway good luck in your upcoming competion and don't stop bodybuilding even if you don't compete, you'll feel better and look better when you're in your 40's, 50's and beyond, it keeps you young at heart , body and mind.

Clean Dean- Good luck with the show! Getting your diet and other contest prep dialed-in just right must be very challenging.

I trust you're gonna keep with it afterwards too. A ten year layoff would be murder to come back from!

Heh heh, at 39 you're still a "young buck" to some of us ;) I always like seeing how many of us older guys are still at it...yeah, it keeps you young :xyxthumbs

I recently got the StairMaster rebuilt after 20 years of use, must've needed it as everything is about two levels faster/tougher than it used to be

I'm in the process of cutting a bunch of weight I gained since starting grad school. Been doing light lifting and biking 70-80 miles a week.

:bounce A fellow roadie! The biking really helps, especially if you watch what you eat. 1 hour at 16-19 mph burns nearly 1000 calories.

And to those of us where he's kind of old (:nana:)***, it offers plenty of hope we can still get there! :xyxthumbs

***of course, it gets closer everyday.. :scared:

jedovaty- Heh heh, yeah, every day we're all one step closer to check-out time.

I just got back from having my annual bloodwork sample drawn, and hanging around a medical facility for a while sure gives you a perspective on how most people just let themselves go...there were OK-looking folks going in/out of the place's gym and other people who obviously *never* exercise who were heading for the vending machines. The difference is striking, even in just how people walk and carry themselves.

Clean Dean---What type of diet are you on?

I'd imagine at 4 weeks out your sub~2000kcals, 300ish grams of PRO, complex carbs<40g all consumed before noon, and (good) fats to satiate.

Have you ever tried a PSMF (protien sparing modified fast)?

As far as drugs go, are you against all of them (legal or otherwise) or just AAS?

I've got some novel AMPK activators, GLUT-4 specific modulators, and some great and safe uncouplers (besides DNP).

On another note: I "consult" for a supplement company and can get pretty much any supp for next to nothing, if not free.

I would be glad to look over your routine/diet/supps. I can also run it by some of the big dogs, who are friends of mine. (Marc McDougal, Pat Arnold, Lyle Mcd etc.)

Send me a PM with your phone # if you like and I can answer/advise about any topic you like.

In my first 3 months (started dec 07) I went from 210 lbs down to a stable body weight of 185. I went from a 38" waist to a 34". I really enjoy weight lifting, and that has been my primary focus. I've been able to loose weight and gain muscle mass, which I know is difficult.

When I first started, I could barely curl the 40 lb curvy bar. Now I can rep 80 lbs. In the last month I changed my routine up a bit and added a lot of cardio. I have maintained about the same weight, but now am a 33" waist and have added 30 lbs to my reps on bench, and increased my max by 40 lbs. I'm slowly getting leaner, and getting muscle growth too.

You know what amazes me? The number of grotesquely overweight people who work in medical facilities. I have a doctor customer and I take care of his car up at his office. More than half the women working there are at least fat, several are morbidly obese and I see at least a few of them standing by the back door puffing away on cigarettes. You'd think being around patients all day long would encourage them to take care of themselves. :nixweiss
