BMW scratch resistant clear?

I never heard of it for a BMW but I had a black infiniti with self healing paint. What a crock of .............

That black swirled up like no tomorrow if not babied.

Was BMW putting scratch resistant clear on their cars in 2006? More specifically a 2006 metallic black 750?

Sapphire Black is always on the harder side of any year bimmer I've seen it on. I've done a lot of those and they were always scratch removal resistant. As for being scratch resistant that seems to be a non issue.

The only harder to scratch paint I can think of was Mercedes many years ago, and the Menzerna Compound people developed a compound for them to enable the paint to be corrected when ultimately scratched..
Believe the paint was ceramic-clear or something...

Also never heard of BMW ever doing anything to their paintwork, and I'm a member of the BMWCCA for 15 years now...

If the vehicle you are having the challenge with was resprayed, it can certainly be harder than the original - did you do a paint thickness measurement?

Maybe I'm nuts (or wrong), but I looked this up years ago when I bought my M. From what I remember, BMW does/did use cerami-clear type paint starting in the early 2000s on 5,6, & 7 Series painted in EU. All 3 Series and vehicles painted in SC have regular paint.

My BMW is BSM and was painted in SC. It's pretty easy to correct and finish.
