My plan of attack would be:
1. Put bike on Center stand of you can, if not the regular kick stand will do
2. Rinse bike with water
3. Spot treat for tar and bugs. Check for tar on the underside.
4. Clean wheel and tires
5. Wash
6. Rinse wash solution
7. Rinse without nozzle
8. Dry bike
9. Run bike for a couple of minutes of you can. Bike have lots of nooks and crannies which like to drip water and running the bike usually vibrates a lot out..
a. If you cannot run the bike I would blow the bike dry.

10. Clay if needed
11. From the picture the paint looks to in good shape and swirl, scratch and cobweb free. If yes then,
a. Clean paint with AIO or similar product
b. Protect with wax or sealant
12. If no,
a. Polish. Tape off plastic if using PC.
b. Clean with AIO
c. Protect with
13. Clean metal with Nev R Dull
a. Nev R Dull because this should not stain the brushed aluminum or matte finish metals
14. Protect plastic with 303 or similar product
15. Clean windscreen with Plexus or similar product
16. If seat is leather clean and condition. Condition with product, which does not leave a slick surface behind.
a. If seat is not leather. Clean and protect with non-slippery protectant
17. Do not dress any part of the tires

Attached picture:
Green:
Wash
Polish
Wax
Yellow
Protect with 303 or similar product
Red
Clean with Nev R Dull
Peach
Clean and protect wheels
Aqua
Clean with Plexus or similar product
Blue
Clean tires, but do not dress/ protect
Do Not dress or protect these rubber surface.
For seat see above
Do not dress any foot or handle controls

Other tips and advice:
Do not be afraid to get the bike wet, they are made to get wet
If the bike is really dirty or has tar and bug deposits try using S100 total cycle cleaner
S100 TCC will strip wax and may need multiple application or agitation for tough spots.
S100 TCC may be diluted 1:1.
Double check seams
For water after washing and drying
After waxing
Seat should lift up
Saddlebags should open
Both probably need the key to unlock

Feel free to add other advice or tips for The Woob.

Excellent advice, but what might that product be? Any protectants I have used are way too slippery to be used on the seat of my motorcycle.

I would try the 4* Leather Cleaner & Leather Conditioner; maybe try the side of the seat first to see how it does. No slide at all in the car, but on a motorcycle seat sliding may be deadly. I'm sure the Harley dealers sell something you can use. Whatever you do, don't use Megs Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner...I slid for at least a week every time I used it, which is why I tried the 4*.

I use Lexol or Tanners choice of leather and buff well. For Vinyl I use 303 sparingly (enough to protect and still be buffable to remove excess and still leaving protection behind) and buff well. I have used Lexol and Tanner's before on vinyl by accident without adverse effects. Essentially the product needs dries to the touch in a short amount of time while providing protecting.

A slight change in the process, clean and condition the saddle after washing and drying the bike. Let the conditioner/protectant absorb/dry/evaporate after the initial buffing. Go back and buff one or two more time(s) if needed.

I know the detail is within a couple of days and you are not buying anything new, but contact PAC, Pinnacle wax or Autogeek as they sell Motorcycle care products and my be able to point you in the right direction.

As to the leather or vinyl issue, just ask the owner if the seat is leather or vinyl. Call the BMW motorcycle dealer they may know the material type. Do the water drop test to check if the bike has uncoated leather, coated leather or vinyl. If unprotected the water drop will absorb and leave a dark spot. While coated leather and vinyl will bead.

Anymore questions or concerns about the detailfeel free to ask about.

One more thing, the yellow X on the side vent if painted treat as paint if texture or plastic treat as plastic. You probably already knew that, but I thought I would throw it there.

Dang :bigups Thanks alot edschwab1. I'm gonna read over all this info and start making a plan of attack :dcrules

One more little thing, after looking at the picture of the bike, remove the tank bag before detailing.
You probably already knew that, but I thought I would throw it there.

You mean the cargo sides? Yeah most likely. Thanks man!
By Cargo sides, do you mean the saddle bags? You can take the saddle bags off, depending on method of attachment. I would leave the saddle bags on the bike.

In your picture of the bike there is backpack attached to the gas, which I was referring to.

Good luck.

Hey Eric,

No the owner didn't want the bike to be worked on. I might be able to do it in 2 weeks. School has been a bummer. Don't worry I will definitely try out your setup.

Thanks Man!
