BMW detail.

I am going to detail a Z3 tomorrow, and wondered if there is anything special I need to know about BMWs. I haven't detailed a car of this caliber yet (not that Beemers are rare or anything), but just want to make sure I do it right. Silver/Black interior. Plan of attack:

Wash

Clay

Check paint condition, perhaps SSR1

AIO by hand (SG? by hand)

NXT paste by hand

Interior:

Water/Woolite 6:1 on all leather surfaces (should I scrub lightly with my Meguiar's brush or just wipe off with MF?)

LGCM on mats and carpet with the Bissell solution

Distilled water with the Woolite, or does it even matter? It is black leather. There's no risk of Woolite fading it at all is there?

if there are no swirls, the plan looks good. However, you don;t need both SG & NXT. I love NXT but SG (like that too) may last longer.

How old is the car?

Interior - woolite will not fade leather. (I use tap water)

MF is good enough with it. Protect the leather afterwards.

Tasty,

Trust me on this one - I have owned 3 Bimmers, (We currently have two.)

Beemer = BMW Motorcycle.

Bimmer = BMW Automobile.

Cheers,

Roger that. I was just stating that I am not familiar with the term Bimmer in TX after 31 years of living here. I guess among BMW enthusiasts I would have learned the difference. I have filed this fact in my mental rolodex!

Is there anything OTC that is worth a flip on a BMW cloth top, or should I break down and order Raggtop stuff?

Tasty,

I am not familiar with Soft Top cleaning products. Do a search on convertable's here on Autopia and/or maybee someone with convertable experience will chime in.

Cheers,

BMW dealers sell a nice soft top cleaning Kit, they also have fantastic car was soap and its a bargain at $7. Its repackaged Sonax, give it a try.

You can get a great deal online at Circle BMW or Pacific BMW, both have easy to find websites
