BMW Compact with a 'dive into' after shot bonnet

I'd already pre-viewed today's car, a BMW 3 series compact, in black, full multi-stage de-swirl, interior leather clean and engine bay  The owner wanted the swirls removed, a good proection added and the leather interior cleaned as the drivers seat didnt match the rest of the car due to wear.

Got there nice and early this morning, the sun was just debating getting up too, here are the before pics

Once the before piccies were done I set to and pre-saoked with DP foam via the karcher. This was followed by a two bucket wash and then dried with a Cobra Guzzler. Moved the car into the Cust's garage (nice big double garage for me to hide from the rain, wind and cold. Out with the PDG, here are the readings -nice to see the O/S of the car matching the N/S!

I then taped up with 3m tape.

Rotary Work

After testing my way in (umpteen polish and pd combos- dont ask!:wall: :wall: ), I finally settled on a Wolfgang Light cut pad, and Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover (1100 rpm) to try to get the bonnet as near as I could to prefection.

This was then followed with a polishing pad and Blackfire Finishing Polish (1100 rpm). The result looked pretty much LSP ready, but I just wanted a bit more from the paint before sealing it, so using a Finishing Pad on the rotary and Pinncale Advanced Finishing Polish (700rpm), I did another trip round the car:buffer.

Here are some pics after the Blackfire to give an idea of what I had, and wanted improvement on. I have taken half and half to help with an idea of how much had been cut away.

Once I'd finished the Pinnacle Advanced finishing polish this what the bonnect looked like:

Porter cable

Using a finishing pad on the PC and Wolkgang Deep Gloss Selant I applied a layer to the whole car and left to cure for 45 minutes.

hand application

Whilst the Sealant cured I applied Megs #20 to the alloys, and stanarded work on the interior. Firstly with the drivers seat and that shiny leather. I cleaned this using a Megs Multi Purpose Interior brush and treble S. I then treated the whole interior with Pinnacle Leather Cleaner and Conditioner - leaves a lovely deep rich leather scent too! Cleaned all the glass with Stoners Invisible Glass Cleaner.

Returned to the exterior, wiped the sealant off, and applied P21S wax with the Pinnacle Polishing Pal and a finishing Pad. Wiped clear witha Cobra Ultra Plush MF. Removed all the 3m tapee, and wiped the megs #20 from the alloys, cleaned the exterior glass, and applied Megs Endurance Tyre Gel to the tyres. I did a walk round with Pinnacle Crystal Mist where the tape had been, and also wiped all the door shuts etc down with this.

The engine bay and wheel arches were dressed with Poorboys Bold n Brite.

Here is that Bonnet after the P21S

Sorry about some of the after pics - some Pro Detailer parked his damn van in the way;)

Thanks for reading, Iain

Awesome turn-around! Looks great, never seen a Ti look like that before; assuming it's slightly modded and the Euro model.
