Blood Work

Ok well I will give you the guys the low down.

Last week I had to fast for 12 hours but ended up with 14hrs of fasting for some blood work I had to have done at work (battelle).

It all started with the nurse putting the the needle in my arm which felt like it went WAY to deep in & it actually hurt really bad, but it normally doesn't hurt me... They get about 1oz of blood into the vial from what I saw, looked over at the nurse said I was getting light headed... That's all I remember.

But I do remember seizing and feeling my body shaking and my eyes closed but I physically had no control over my body but still felt my body do what it was doing so I think I was still somewhat conscious.... I finally came to and asked what happened and she said I seizured. Woke up all sweaty, lights were really bright...

She said it was probably cause I had to fast for 12-14hours... Well unfortunately I have to get this test done AGAIN tomorrow. She said I will only need to fast for 8 hours which I guess is better. But honestly, I am actually pretty scared it will happen again. I was I can drink Water and Coffee...

So I guess what I wanted to ask is; what are some good foods to eat before I go to bed at midnight? Before I didn't drink any water or anything so that would've been a problem so I plan on drinking a lot of water before this test...

Thanks guys and wish me luck...:(

Thanks Al!

Me too. It just scary knowing it can happen again...

I will just make sure I stay hydrated really well and eat a good meal before bed and some fruit. :scared:

Well my blood work test this morning went fine without a hitch... Now just gotta wait another year to do it again... :woot2::(

It's in my first post in the first sentence.

We get FULL physicals paid for each year at work.

Alrighty then.

I get two teeth cleanings a year with my fine coverage at work.

stiffdogg06- Glad things went smoother the second time around!

I don't do anything special the night before, just have a big meal (which is normal for me anyhow). But yeah, dehydration can do funny things to ya and maybe that's what happened in your case. Weird that it hurt though, I probably woulda spoken up and made sure things were OK (easy for me to say, my veins are readily accessible so the nurses say I'm the easiest patient they have).

Heatgain- Sure, bloodwork is part of a full physical for me too (get mine drawn next week). My wife and I get 'em every year too even though they're at our expense. Don't want to miss something and hear the old "gee, if only we'd caught this earlier...".
