Review: Blackfire Total Eclipse Tire Gel
Introduction:
I recently received several new Blackfire products to try and test. Unfortunately the weather here has been crappy for me to do any outside detailing. Last weekend we had a round of snow and ice. I finally decided to pull the covers off of some of the cars in the garage and give them a try.
Thanks to Corey and Mike for providing the format on these reviews. I think your reviews and format are stellar and I hope you don’t mind me using them.
Product Claims:
BLACKFIRE Total Eclipse Tire Gel darkens and conditions rubber to restore the look of new tires. This thick, water-based tire dressing provides a natural, matte look with one coat or a high gloss finish with two coats. UV inhibitors and polymers protect tires to maintain their color and flexibility. BLACKFIRE Total Eclipse Tire Gel provides the concours look that complements any vehicle.
Tech notes: Apply to clean tires. Apply a thin strip of Total Eclipse Tire Gel onto a tire applicator and work into tires. Remove excess with microfiber towel.
First coat-Provides a natural rubber finish
Second coat-Provides a high gloss finish

2.- Directions: Clearly printed on rear of bottle
3.- Viscosity: Thick
4.- Color: Purple
5.- Scent: Fruity and very pleasant
6.- Price at time of review: TDB product lists Blackfire product number BF-850
7.- Manufacturer: Blackfire
Test Vehicle: 1990 Nissan 300ZX with Toyo T1S tires and HRE wheels
Pictures:
Product and packaging. Applicator is a Cobra Tire Dressing Applicator
Amount applied on first coat: Second coat was applied 5 mins later per directions
Results and look:
Observations:
I find myself only using tire gels on very low profile tires. The Blackfire Tire Gel applied very easily and left a very matte clean finish on the first coat. I am a fan of gloss so I applied a second coat 5 mins later and loved the nice glossy look. The gel was no greasy or slimy and seemed to dry perfect.
