Blackfire Black Ice Hybrid Montan Sealant Wax

Whew! After typing the title, I`m using BF Black Ice as a short name. I`ve used Zaino stuff for years, but now decided to try something a little different. The paint is as perfect as I`ll ever get, using the Cyclo and Zaino swirl remover. I`m thinking of claying the paint to knock off the road crap. Then applying the BlackFire over the Zaino sealed paint. Then use the BF WD Polymer sealant after washing to maintain the shine.

Hints, comments, should I just Dawn everything off and start over again? I`m thinking the polymer stuff won`t make any difference, but will remove the Zaino stuff if ya`ll think it`s the best wayl

This is what I`m working with.

While many of today`s products work seamlessly together there are exceptions. I`d ask you this question, should you choose to leave the Z on and top with BF, when the BF fails early will it be the Z`s fault of the BF`s? If it were me I`d start with a clean slate. This all said, BlackFire`s product is so easy to apply you`re not out too much should things not work out.

BF MS is a much better looking and easier to apply was compared to BI IMHO. BI reminds me of a tub of 20 year old shoe polish...Not a nice wax... MS is the complete opposite.

Skip the Dawn wash. Dawn is not good for a cars finish. Just use a good normal car wash. Ph neutral. Oh, Dawn does not remove everything it leaves behind surfactants that inhibit beading so it looks like the wax/sealant has been removed. And IPA wipe afterwards will usually remove the surfactants and reveal the wax/sealant. The only true way to remove everything is by using a light polish or the Valueguard ABC decon.

I used a sample of that Black Ice recently and it was the most difficult wax/sealant I have ever tried to remove from a car. Just FYI. I love the rest of BF`s products though.

I did one panel at a time, thin coats. When I would get through applying one panel, I would begin on another, then go back to the original and remove the haze. Had no problem at all in polishing it with a large MF towel.

First time around this was my experience with BlackICE too. There`s a unique learning curve with this wax.

^ Good advice ^ I`d add by preforming a swipe test you`ll know how fast the wax is curing (based on your local weather) so you`ll know how quickly BlackICE should be removed. To make life even easier lay down BF Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection first - doing so makes the overall application and removal process a breeze.

Anyone used it on a lighter car. I`m a little gun shy after natty`s red turned my white car pink. Buuuuut, that was my fault b/c I didn`t let the sealant cure long enough prior to using.

BF`s website doesn`t mention anything about using this stuff on light colored paint. I would try it myself, but won`t recommend it to anyone else. I`ve also got a Green Gem `12 Expedition King Ranch I`m going to BF it as well, but that`s a big undertaking

I put some on my white Caddy and had no staining problems. I did it just to see if it would make it darker. The Caddy is my test car.

Good to know, got a friend that has a 93 Allante with that tri coat white pearl paint and was curious if it affected the "whiteness"

Did I read that right....you want to use the BF sealant on top of the wax?
About the BF ivory carnauba....if it`s difficult to remove, you`re leaving it on too long. You don`t want it to haze like some other waxes....
I do half a panel at a time and buff off.

I like how the HDR effect makes the paint look red chrome.

As far as LSP are concerned stick with what`s been working it looks great!

BlackIce`s instructions are to let it haze for ten minutes.
I think you are thinking of the sealant, not the wax....

In fact, it says buff off immediately!
Unless this has changed in a newer formulation...?
This is batch 23

That looks different than the BlackIce that I was quoting from. My BlackIce looks different than yours too. I have the latest, and it says to haze for ten minutes.
Yours seems to be more along the lines of Midnight Sun. I`m sort of lost here. I joined the forum after you. I don`t even recognize the tin you have there. Maybe someone else will chime in and see this straight.

I did have the BF product catalog...but I can`t find it.
My stuff maybe about 10 years old.
