GOT PREP?
This car belongs to a friend of a very good customer of mine. The car needed attention and it was my job to bring it back to life. The car has a bit of story behind it, so I sort of went above and beyond and did a few little extra things. I probably have about 15 man-hours in on this car, but IMO it was worth it!

When the car was dropped off, this is what I had to look forward to.

So I Started off by washing with a stronger than normal solution of Meguiars HYPERWASH and a sheepskin mitt.

I started with the engine first. I degreased, then pressure washed, then dressed with Meguiars hyperdressing cut 2:1

After:

On the painted area above I used Meguiars colorX to wax the paint:

I then clayed the car, it took two huge “chunks of clay before all of the contaminants were removed.

This is a pic after claying the rear bumper.

Once the car was washed, clayed, and driedI moved to the interior.

Before:

I first vacuumed thoroughly, then used a combination of Costco APC, various brushes, and my steamer to clean every crack, crevice, and vent. I then dressed the interior using vinylex. I applied the dressing, allowed it to “set, and then wiped it down with a microfiber towel.

The carpet was cleaned with an APC.

I then started on the exterior. While washing I noticed that all of the undercoating had long since deteriorated in the wheel wells—she was going to need a fresh coat in order to look new.

I jacked up the car, wiped the wheel wells with prep-solv, and commenced to apply thin coats of rubberized undercoating.

As you can see here, the OE undercoating was just gone.

Here is just after spraying:

Here it is after it has dried fully, it dries perfectly flat, and looks just like OE undercoating.

After this was complete I began to evaluate defects. Here’s what I found:

tn_IMG_3557.jpg

I knew that these swirls were severe, and I knew from experience that the paint would be “Honda-soft. So I thought about what I thought it would take to remove the defects, and then started with a product one step less aggressive. I started with Menzerna Intensive polish; the swirls were reduced, but not totally removed. I then knew exactly what to use, no more experimentingI grabbed the Hi-Temp Extreme Cut and Optimum polish and went work. I buffed @1500 RPM’s with a polishing pad. I then switched to a finishing pad and buffed with 3M perfect-it III machine glaze. I switched to the PC with a polishing pad and used Blackfire final polish @seed 6. I wiped down with Z6, and then applied two thin coats of Zaino Z5 PRO (ZFX enabled). Lastly, I applied Z8 with a microfiber towel.

The tires were dressed with Meguiars all-season dressing

Glass cleaned with Eagle One 20/20 (new formula)

All trim was polished with Klasse All-In-One

Exterior trim at bottom was dressed with Hi-Temp bumper restorer

As I started to buff, thank goodness that I remembered the N3W teChn0logy!!!!1111
