GOT PREP?
I am not exactly sure how to describe how nice it was to detail under these conditions, but let me see if I can try. I am typically in the heat all day long when I detail and while I am in the shade, it is HOT!! So on Saturday, I was able to detail in a 3 bay garage that was AIR CONDITIONED!!! The people were so nice and appreciative of my work, they offered me drinks, fed me lunch—they were really gracious hosts.

The car needed a little TLC. As you will see in the pics, the hood was painted, and then buffed before it was delivered to the customer. It looked like someone buffed it with sandpaper!!!! Just horrible work, period.

The rest of the car was very clean, the interior just needed to be vacuumed and wiped down.

The process for the paint was:

Wash

Clay

Apply Hi-Temp Extreme Cut/Optimum Polymer Polish (both products placed on a Meguiars polishing pad) via rotary @1500 RPM’s—thanks again for inventing the Sean!!! :2thumbs:

Apply 3M Perfect-it III Machine glaze via rotary polisher @1200 RPM’s with a Meguiars polishing pad

Apply Menzerna final polish II via PC and a blue SM Arnold finishing pad

Apply two thin coats of Meguiars #21 by hand

All products removed with microfiber towels

Canon SD400, all in auto

Here is the hood before.

Very nice work as always :bigups That hood was horrible, man do I hate body shops..... On a side note, I just ordered some of the High-temp extreme cut and can't wait to give it a try. I have a feeling it is gonna be my new go-to compound :waxing:

You did simply amazing work on that hood. I take it it was painted as it's an aftermarket one, what do they have under the hood? I'm curious, what did the glaze do for you before the final polish?

I've been there before...on both accounts. I've received quite a bit of work thanks to the hacks working at most body shops. And I too have had a fair number of clients that spoil me with a nice garage, drinks and a hot meal or two.

Intake and exhaust as far as I know.

The 3M machine glaze is not a glaze and does not need to be applied via machine. :D I find that it finishes down *very* well via rotary and cleans up any mild holograms left from aggressive polishing. It will leave mild holograms of its' own, but with technique this can be minimized. I am still learning with the rotary, so I follow every job with the PC or cyclo.

Thanks guys!!

Outstanding work and love those M-flakes :2thumbs:

Meh, I begin to like "Hi Temp EC" aswell :bow I used over the weekend and it's pretty impressive, I gotta say.
