do you think the wool and 105 was a little over kill?

last time you used IP & foam and there was a lot more swirls

do you have a paint thickness gague?

Good job - Is that one of the Infinit's with the sticker under the hood stating the car has a hard clear? Is that why you used the M105?

Thanks Warrior! Yes it does have the sticker, but its a combo of the defects and the paint that dictate which polish I use.

Fasntastic work as usual! I gotta ask why the heck does a car need 5x of sealant though? Did the owner request that much?

Thanks Justin! Just 3x of zaino on this car. What I have been doing on my last few black car details is to mix 80% of Z5pro, 20% of Z2pro, 2 hits of Z8 and ZFX in the bottle. My details usually consist of 2x of zaino, but I can be paid to put on a third coat. :)

Jim, Not at all, actually I had a 3-4" wide area in the middle of the hood that I taped off. I was taking readings with my Defelsko Positest DFT Combo. I removed the moderate defects with the 2 passes of M105/yellow edge wool at 1500. I then did one pass of UF with the blue 3M foam pad. I removed the tape, wiped down the area with Z6 to ensure that no tape residue remained.

I then took like 10-15 readings on the corrected and uncorrected areas. More then half of the readings showed no reduction in thickness. I tried to take them right next to each other as close as possible. The areas that did show a reduction where 0.1mil or less. I am wondering how many of those where due to variations in paint thickness.

great info!

thanks, from some of the other post about the kind of defect removal 105 does

I thought you might be removing a lot more paint then needed but that does not look like the case

Gotcha, I just know that if I did it that way, It'd take me forever haha. I'm sure you're quick at it though! ;)

Justin, The polishing is what takes me forever, well less then forever now with M105. While zaino is curing, I usually apply some Z16 to the tires and ZAIO to the wheels.

Jim, Glad I could answer your question. This car did have some deep RIDS in it, I called the client and asked if he was going to keep the car long term. He said yes that was the plan, so the deeper RIDS got left alone.

Nice job and nice car - i really like the M class. I love how that black looks, especially with the Z8. I just rec'd the Z8 last week but the weather in CT has not been good for washing and waxing. :sadpace:

Thanks Jswift! Its about 35° with a 20-30MPH wind and blowing snow in Atlanta today. Hope the weather gets better for you soon so you can enjoy some detailing.

Unbelievable work Bryan!

It looks like the M105/Ultrafina combo is working out well.

How much did you pay for your Defelsko? I really need to buy another PTG soon.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks Rick! I am really liking the combo.

Thanks for your M105 tip when you said to apply the product to the surface and pick it up with a running wool pad. I still need to work on my technique a bit, but the M105 seemed to spread out much more even that way.

Bryan, you inspire me as well. You have 15 years on me, you work like an animal and show no sign of stopping anytime soon. Every time I view one of your posts, your works seems to be getting better and better.

Keep up the great work!

Nice work Bryan. How long did it end up taking you? I know you sounded tired on the phone. Next time you're up on this side, we gotta get some brews at the ale house.

Ryan, Thank you very much for your kind words! I guess its just my anal nature. :)

Rick, You do great work for a 10 yr old ;) :rofl

I try to self evaluate my work the next day. Thinking on how I can improve results and efficiency. Of course reading threads from other detailers like you guys helps very much as well.
