Black GMC Sierra Diesel Truck with MEGA SWIRLS!

Todays job was a Black GMC Sierra Truck. The truck is brand new, but, when the dealer painted the truck they did not change the tip and the truck ended up being a mixture of black and gold. :scared: He sent it back to have it re-painted. The problem is when they did the re-paint, they put an enormous amount of swirls on it.

The Process:

1. Wash (Meg's GC)

2. Clay (Entire Truck)

3. Polish with SSR2.5 (PC on speed 4 to spread, then on speed 5 to work it in) (Orange Pad) Several passes during this step.

4. NXT (PC on speed 5) (Green Pad)

5. Z2 as my LSP. I applied Z2 with a foam pad and removed with MF.

This is a before shot of swirls.

This is the after shot of NO swirls.

Truck looks great! I still can't fathom how body shops don't know how to properly finish paint. Is it me? To me it's like high diver that can't swim. WTH is wrong with body shops not being able to polish paint! URGH

From your before pictures, I would have never of guessed that the truck was recently painted. It looked like arse!

What did you use

Awesome results! I've got a black Sierra crewcab in need of a full detail and will be using your 'after' shots for inspiration. :)

Nice pictures.

This is the first time that I have read of someone using Z2 over NXT. Results look good. I would think that Z2 would have bonding problems going over NXT. Of course if longevity is not a consideration it does not matter.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

I was a little concerned myself with using Z2 over NXT, but the customer wanted Zaino used, and based on the condition of his truck, using Z2 as the LSP was the only option I could think of based on what I had in my arsenal.

I am very pleased with the results. :up

Am I the only one that is confused by this? The truck is brand new but when it was painted by the dealer they screwed it up? Do these trucks come unpainted from the factory and are finished at the dealer???

I think he meant 'factory' when he said the dealer screwed up the paint.

Nice work Avy! :)

Woops! Yeah, I meant factory. The words "swirls" and "dealership" just seems to go hand in hand and that's why I probably typed that on accident. :D
