Black G35 showed some cloudyness in paint now :(

Seems only to be seen if the sun is hitting it. It has the dark black look but then it has light areas like clouds in the paint in sections that don't seem to be coming off. I haven't tried to rebuff the parts of the car this is on yet.

I used PB SS2.5 and VM, and Blue something (another PB product everyone recommended for wax/sealant).

My camera can't pick it up good enough to show pictures but I hope some of you guys know what I am talking about.

could it be that the marks actually are clouds :D I'd check to make sure you got off all the products from the paint. If that's not it, I'd go over the area with VM and then top with Natty's Blue again.

My G35 did this on the front and rear bumpers ONLY and I tried to polish the cloudiness out via PC with 1ZPP but I couldn't get rid of it. I had been using Zaino on it and one day I just happened to notice this when the sun hit it just right.

Try a finer polish. The PBSS2.5 is pretty coarse. You'll have to progressivly work finer polishes to reduce and eliminate the hazing. Only work the finer polishes in the places that need it and not the whole car, unless the whole car is hazy.

It could be a problem in the paint. My car has had the hood repainted in the past and in bright sun, it is obvious the base coat wasn't laid down evenly because you can see light streaks down the length of the hood. In the shade, depending on the light, it can look cloudy.

Now last time I did it I am having problems with the pads no longer removing the product well. I go really slow and its just keeps spreading it. Even after washing them. When they were new it did great.

you know what it may be the actualy paint nissan uses if this is happening on only your bumpers. I know that on ALL of my friends Z's the paint on the front and rear bumpers is so thin we cant even polish them by machine without burning the paint. And they chip very easily. I havent ever done a G, but im assuming they use the same paint practices.

The paint on my 2003 G35 Coupe was terrible. It had very minimal orange peel, which was great, but it was so... I want to say brittle. It didn't necessarily swirl easy, but the paint on the hood and front bumper was so rock chipped even at 4000 miles that it wasn't even funny. In the sun, the front and rear bumper almost looked like a pearl in the paint, or VERY light metallic, but that would be inconsistent with the rest of the car (Black Obsidian). Very strange indeed.

yea I dunno what Nissan did with that cause every car ive seen has been inconsistent with the rest of the car also. I think that may contribute to the problem you guys seem to be having with the front bumpers. Just cheap as paint/applications i guess.

Sorry to hear about your paint. I hope you can work out a solution.

I'm bummed out about the G35 right now for a totally different reason. In the next couple of months I'll be buying another car and the G35 coupe had caught my eye as an very attractive possibility. I finally got by the dealership today and.....I can't fit in the thing. My head is crammed up against the roof. I've had that problem with other cars, but it's still really disappointing to find a beautiful car like this that's supposed to drive so well only to find out I have to totally scratch it from my list.

Yeah maybe I could, especially if the full glass roof made it to production. Of course, that must mean no more "open-able" sunroof. I just checked the specs and it's listed as having nearly a full inch more front headroom than my current car, a Chrysler LHS. Yeah right, I'd sure love to see how they measured that. It's kind of ridiculous, I'm barely over 6', not even a full 6'1". I just have a long body and I have trouble fitting in some cars that I've seen taller guys sit in with no problem. Gotta say, I hope they don't jack up the price of the G too much of they come through with a redesign next year.

The Sedan has more headroom than the coupe. And you can get the 6mt. Just as fast. :)

Well, almost:

2003 Infiniti G35 Sedan 6.2 14.8

2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe 5.5 14.2

(2003 was the easiest numbers for me to find quickly)

Plus the coupe is sooooo much nicer looking in my book. The headroom even in the sedan is very borderline.

My black G35 had a similar problem when I detailed it at the beginning of this month. It turns out, I used too much SSR2.5...a little goes a long way! So how did I resolve it? I went back and started over using a smaller amount of 2.5, about the drops the size of a nickel (three of them) and a mist spray of water. I was told I shouldn't use water, but the mist worked for me. Blkyukon's method worked pretty good for me....spread it with a PC at speed 2 and work it in by bumping it to 4 and then finally moving the dial to 5...take your time and work the polish in.....should work just fine.....

This is one thing I've been unsure about in the limited attempts I've made so far at polishing or compounding. Should it always be done dry with just the product, or while the car's still wet from washing? Does it make a difference if I'm working by hand or RO machine?
