2006 with 11k miles. Out of state client had it serviced here in Atlanta, I picked it up from the dealership today.

Started out at 94 in my garage, hoping it cools off enough (w/ small AC unit) to get some interior work done this evening. After a 60+ mile drive, this beast puts off a lot of heat.

Wash/clay start early tomorrow morning.

This detail is going to be a real treat to read. I'm really curious about the paint. I bet it's pretty hard but hard like Audi and Mercedes ceramic? Do keep us posted!

She looks like a lot of fun to polish up, no doubt she'll a whole lot better with those defects gone. Have fun and stay cool tomorrow!!

Thanks UD!

Looks like a nice project. Have fun! Hope it's more cooperative than the car I'm working on right now.

Charlie, If you hear a loud rant and r/o's being smashed into 1000 pieces, the paint is a PITA. :) Good luck with yours!

Thanks Bill! Actually my first Bentley, from what I understand it should be on the softer side, we shall see.

Another black car I see......Atleast the paint should be nice to work with!!

Do they come in any other color? Hopefully the paint will cooperate.

:LOLOL that sounds about like what I was doing about an hour ago. Considering this is what I had to start with:

The paint is not exactly playing nice when it comes to getting rid of some of the RIDS; I've been doing a lot of feathersanding with the Micromesh and/or damp sanding bad areas with a 3" Unigrit 3K finishing disc on the DA that gets the job done but with as scoured as it is, it's taking forever.

I've got about 3 hours each into every panel I've touched so far, and that's just in sanding out deep RIDS and bringing back gloss/killing most of the swirls with SIP. I'll go over the whole thing with 85RD after that then strip the surface to prep for OptiCoat. :buffing:

At least my PTG is telling me I've got plenty of paint to play with. :whistle1:

Wow, looking forward to the results from both of you!!

I feel yer' pain... working on this funky beast... the usual story.

Guy buys daughter a car, she washes it with a Scotchbrite pad or something.

Now I'm tasked with getting the "haze out".... after a PTG reading I think they need a repaint!!

ANY IDEAS GUYS?!

Give them a card to a local paint shop and move on to the next job? :bolt

If you are forced to do it, use a light polish with lots of fillers. Some customers are happy with a mild improvement.

Fire up the Flux Capacitor and travel back to when nobody cared about defects. :)

If anybody can polish SS to a defect free finish, it would be you Kevin!

I was able to remove the defects on the trunk with D300/MF, will just need a one step to finish out:

Now the hood is a different story, to get the deeper RIDS out I used surbuf/M105. Will require 2 steps to finish out. The roof is in the same shape.

Awesome, Bryan. Glad it was a quick and easy fix.

Mine finally worked out after damp sanding with 3K, polishing with SIP (I managed to get it to finish down LSP ready straight away... I was thrilled!) and despite there being bird crap etching too deep to completely remove it's now OptiCoated.

Writeup coming soon. :biggrin1:

Kevin Brown: A DeLorean! Nice... didn't DMC sell a "care kit" at one time that consisted of basically kitchen appliance polish and a Scotchbrite pad to "blend scratches" with? EDIT: Actually they still do! DeLorean Motor Company - CAR CARE KIT WITH BOX
