Black and never detailed Pontiac Grand Prix

Hi all,so i finally decided to post my first write up after being a member for a while now. I did this detail when i was living up in the VA area. One of my co-workers asked me to "make it shiny again" because he didn't have time and didn't know how to do it properly.

I apologize for the low quality pics as they were taken from my cellphone and there's not too many pics but the ones i took should give you a general idea of how bad the paint was on this car.

about 12-14hrs of work to bring this thing back to life.

1.wash with foam gun and 2 bucket method

2.wheels and wheelhouse covers.

3.clayed the entire car (surface was ROUGH)

that was it for that day because i started working on it after i got off from work,I worked in a bodyshop at the time and used the carwash garage for this so i left the car in there overnight and got an early start on it next morning.

4.after minor dusting of everything i started on the hood of the car which you can see below ,i used M105 Orange Pad and then M205 with White Pad for this correction,BEFORE:

pretty bad huh? and now here's some AFTER shots of the hood ( this was on the driver's side and te panel below it is the top of the fender):

And now some random 50/50 shots of the fender VS. driver side door and other panels:

aaaand let's go to the final reflection shots,it was cloudy and getting dark already so i couldn't get any sun pics:

I was BEAT after working on this car for 12hrs straight that day( at the time i only had 2 of each Pad for my PC so i wasted a lot of time cleaning them after every panel or so)

Door,sitting outside:

this is my favorite one, roof reflection:

you know the rest, tires got dressed, wheels waxed and the car was sealed with collinite 845.

After getting his car back,my buddy didn't expected me to be on it for 12hrs and when i charged him $150( i know i know, too low? it was my first paint correction after doing my own personal car ) he gave me $250 :up and from then on i was in charge of cleaning the car every 2 weeks or so.

Sad story:after parking the car out front,he came back to pick it up with another buddy, looked at it for a minute or so and then it started raining :angry, their reaction was"hey,at least we got to see the water bead on the car:up"

Thanks a lot for checking my post out,i hope you enjoyed it,again sorry for the lack of pics and quality shots. Opinions, criticism, thoughts are more than welcome please!!!!

thanks for the kind words! yeah once i started using collinite i haven't bothered with anything else, next on my list would be BFWD but that's only gonna be for my higher end details. Collinite lasts for soo long,i put it on my motorcycle and it went through an entire winter season up in VA and it was still on the paint! and it's soo cheap.

Nice work......the 105/205 combo from Meguiar's is one of the best combos around for cleaning up trashed paint. I'm a big fan of Collinite as well -- you just cannot beat it for the price!
