I recently came across this site, after purchasing my black 98 GMC Yukon. I have read about tons of different products and techniques.



Right now I have a Porter Cable 7424 on the way, but im not sure which pads you would recommend or which polishes, washes, waxes, etc...

As you can see it was pretty clean, It was 1 owner garage kept whole life, and in town so no dirt roads or gravel roads. In that picture I had just went through the car wash, and then once it was dried I use Honda Polish in an areasol and microfiber towel to rub it all in over the entire vehicle. I used Hond polish on my motorcycle with great results, it seems to look good on the vehicle too.

Hey there!Welcome aboard. Hard to say from your picture, but I'm sure the gloss could be kicked up a notch. Just get a decent polish ahead of your AIO. Maybe Meg's #80? Oh and a polishing and finishing pad should be all you need unless I'm missing something on that truck

As far as pads you may want to read this thread and try some Propel pads, there is also a link in there to another thread that describes them in more detail (what pad is good for what products, etc.):

After you clay, and before AIO, you may want to use a polish if you have any paint defects you need to remove (swirls, marring, fine scratches, etc.). The prep you do with a polish is where you'll really bring out the shine on your finish, then the LSP (sealer and/or wax) will be icing on the cake.



If your defects aren't very serious you may want to try Meg's #80, it isn't too abrasive but will remove minor defects and leave your finish looking very nice. From there you can go to AIO and then NXT or straight to NXT. There are also a slew of other products out there and in time (and after looking at pictures in the Click and Brag forum) you may become like the rest of us and start trying a lot of other waxes and sealers to find what works and looks best to *you*.



Work #80 in a small area (~2x2) at a fast PC speed (~5 or so) with slow arm passes. Work it until it breaks down (it will turn clear or pink) and buff it off with a MF. You may need to do more than one pass to remove more stubborn defects, and if that doesn't work consider bumping up to a more aggressive polish (Meg's #83, Poorboy's SSR2.5, etc.). Good luck!
 
thanks for the quick replies, there arent really any swirls or defects that I have noticed yet, It hasnt been very sunny so I havent had a good chance to look it over really close.



Im really wanting good protection with this shine and from what ive read NXT seems to last the longest, I need the protection because it doesnt always get first dibs in the garage and has to sit outside :*(



But im trying to talk my mom into letting me put it in there if I detail her car up. Hopefully after she sees my final product she be a believer.
 
Has anyone ever used Eagle 1 Nanowax



I bought some this last summer when I had my GSXR 600, and used it on the bike about every 2 weeks, it seemed to provide a really hard protective coating, that I was looking for because of all the road debris. You cant imagine how much dust and dirt and grit is actually hitting your car or vehicle till you ride a motorcycle. Going down the highway passing a semi feels like someone taking a sandblaster to you. And thats a clean 2 way highway. Here are some pics of the bike.

The reviews seemed to be mixed on the durability of NXT, but if you plan on using the NXT booster wax or reapply the NXT every 6-8 weeks you should be fine. If you do a search under Nanowax you should find some threads that talk about it. For max durability you may want to consider Klasse SG or Zaino.



If you have any surface defects they'll show up when you look at it closely in the sun or under lights at a gas station, etc..
