This was probably one of the most challenging correction jobs I have ever done. Of course its black, riddled with defects, tight body lines, low to the ground, paint difficult to work with, on and on. This particular Mercedes paint did not like microfiber pads at all. The paint seemed to be on the softer side however I could not get a foam cutting pad was to level the defects mostly because of the severity of the paint. After a lot of trial and error however I did settled on a Griots fast cutting microfiber pad with Griots fast correction cream. The goal with the microfiber pad was to just mow down the defects then come back and finish out the haze with another step using a foam pad. To remove the haze I came back around the car with an orange Lake country HDO pad with Griots correction cream then I finishing out with yellow rupes pad and Griots perfecting cream. With the severity of the defects and the tight body lines most of the panels had to be corrected with my Bigfoot mini as well as 2 inch pneumatic polisher. I just could not get the larger pad in tight enough or get the pad to lay flat enough to do the correction work with out stalling. The Mark II was use when possible. The car was then coated with 2 coats of Gyeon MOHs, a coat of cancoat, and final wipe down with Cure. The wheels and caliper were also coated. I had about 50 hours into this job trying to get the paint as perfect as I could and working with small diameter pads.
It was a cool car. A lot of nice upgrades including full custom exhaust that sounded unreal.
thanks
