Black 2009 Genesis Sedan, major paint correction

RaskyR1

Rasky's Auto Detailing
I did this on a while ago but haven't gotten around to posting it yet. Paint was rock hard on this thing, one of the hardest I've done and I ended up spending more time on it than planned.

Process:

Wash - Foamed with OPC/CGCW followed by 2BM wash and CGCW
Wheels - P21S Gel and various brushes
Tires - OPC, dressed with Hyper Dressing 3:1
Clay - Blackfire Clay and M34 as lube
Initial Correction Step - M105 on the GG6 with Surbuf pads
Intermediate polishing step - D300/MF on the GG6
Finishing Step - 106fa via rotary and Blue LC pads
Exhaust tips - Optimum Metal Polish
Protection - Blackfire Wet Diamond

Several deep RIDS that ran vertically all over the car, this was the worst of them. NOTE: For all of you water blade users out there...let this car be a lesson on why they SUCK!

I stayed away from the panel bend...not worth the risk in sanding.

Thanks for looking, :)

man, that finish looked like it had been wet sanded before you got it. i'm afraid to ask how many hours that had you tied up in that one. of course, it ended with your usual mirror finish.

Thanks guys! :)

Actually the passenger side had been repainted about a year prior and it was leveled down more than the rest of the car...paint was a little softer over there too, but sill very hard.

I had far more time into this car than I care to admit. When he came by for evaluation and an estimate the car was dirty so I just did an ONR wash on the quarter panel and hit it with D300/106fa. Quoted a 2-step based on that test panel...I didn't realize it had been repainted until the day I started working on it and the condition looked far worse after stripping of his LSP. I didn't want to call and ask for more money after quoting him and just bit the bullet on this one. I'm doing his wife car this weekend (new Optima getting Opti-Guard) and I have his other car coming in for Opti-Guard as well so I'll recoup some of the cost for the extra time I spent. At the end of the day the owner was happy and that's all that mattered. :bigups
