Black 2004 F-150 FX4

I've had my truck for about 2 weeks now, and I did a full detail on it the 1st week I had it. The Dealer must have been very careless in washing this truck, because it had very bad swirls and scratches the day I picked it up. Normally I wouldn't have taken a brand new vehicle with such poor paint, but it was the only one left on the lot that had a center console. I'm going to do a lot of Mods over the next year, including 6 inch lift with 35 inch tires, and hopefully black chrome wheels. Stay tuned!

My process was:

- Wash with Eagle one

- Simple Green On wheels/tires (diluted 5:1)

- Clay the hood

- Polish with DACP on polishing pad (PC set @ 6, with pressure)

- Meguiars #16

- Meguiars #40 on tires

I managed to get almost all of the scratches and swirls out using the DACP and a Lake country polishing pad. The DACP left a pretty good shine, with minimal marring. Thats why I just went to LSP right after.

Heres a few pics. BTW, Just installed that grill that day.

Looks amazing!!!

Superb work.

How do you like the new F-150 in general? My mom was looking at them for her work.

Great minds think alike. Ironically enough, you and my father have had almost the exact same trucks:

Last year's truck: 2003 F150 Lariat FX4

And this year's truck! 2004 F150 Lariat

Does yours make a *clunk* when accelerating from a stop?

The new F150s are great. It is a little sluggish though compared to my 2003. I think the new ones are like 500 - 800 lbs more in weight.

I'm gonna be doing some intake, exhaust, and programer in the spring to get some more power, and better throtle response. Also want it to sound bad ***!

It doesn't clunk, but sometimes it hesitates. The new ones are Drive by Wire, which means there isn't actually a physical connection from the gas pedal to the throtle. It is all done by sensors.

It's the 5.4 V8 isn't it?

Buick_guy: what happened to your FX?

My mom is starting to look at the FX45. Looks incredible in black with the chrome wheels

I agree with you completely on the sluggish part. Our 03' was a lot *peppier* off the line than the new one is, BUT the new one pulls my race car much easier than the 03' ever did.

The clunk I am referring to is a drivetrain clunk felt ever single time we leave a stop. It almost feels like the driveshaft is about to fall off. I have already complained to Ford and we have an appointment with the service dept. manager to try to resolve this. They are already trying to tell me that it's "Normal drivetrain slack in all new 4x4 F150's", so that's why I was asking if your does the same thing.
