Well, I got a PM from this BMW owner about working on his "once loved baby." I invited him down to my open house for an inspection last Saturday, and he told me the sad story that some construction workers had gotten concrete on the hood and they tried to wipe it off--scratching the paint. Then to fix it, the construction company had a friend with a body shop and he proceeded to wreck the finish even more by hologramming it to death. This is where he brings ME into the mix. Kevin, the owner, told me that he used to really be proud of his car, so he's hoping I can help bring that love back!

A mere 20+ hours later and I'm done!

All done! This was one of the longest restores I've ever done. Part of the problem had to do with the delicate nature of the paint, so steps had to be taken to ensure that I didn't rush the job. The paint isn't flawless, but it sure is significantly improved and best of all the customer was extremely pleased with the results, and is glad to have his "baby" back looking good as new!

Amazing job bud!!!

Black Wow, is it like Mother back to black? Or is more of a dye kind of thing? Also, where did you get it?

Thanks. It's an extremely durable silicone dressing. I will PM you. Doesn't use dyes.

But in short, I used the RB with Meguiars M84 compound and W7006 cutting pad on the gouges--and M80 with W8006 polishing pad for the majority of the paint. Followed by M80 on the PC, then Prima Amigo on the PC, then Prima Epic for the LSP by PC and by Hand.

Total working time was spread over 2 days (20+ hours)--I had an assistant that helped me do the interior while I worked on the paint--total man hours was around 35 hours.

no denying that he is a proud owner once again. so much depth you put into that car. very nice.

what was your process by the way?

Amazing job Richard, I will be seeing you at the next SCD open garage day once I get back from the honeymoon.

Seriously amazing work.

Great job! i LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE BMW's and it pains me to see one in bad shape. I'm sure you're going to get great word of mouth from this one. :woot:

Outstanding work! Those beat the heck out of the brand new vehciles that come in and already look OK from the start. You finish washing them and say to yourself that it won't look much better.

It's these marvelous turn arounds that bring the most satisfaction to me (and the customer).
