Hey Guys,
My name is Scott, I have been researching this forum for over 5 years, learning and picking up tips and ready your guys experiences.
First off, hats off to the owners and moderators of this forum. I really think Autopia.org sets the standard if proper forum etiquette. I have never been on a forum where people are allowed to review products even the brand sponsored by the owner of the forum without fear of locked threads and being banned. While I in no way think shilling is something to be tolerated wholly, it does promote a nice atmosphere.
Not only that, but it is a nice crowd of regulars here. Something that I think is unique to the detailing world is how even the top professionals are willing to share their time and experiences, without expecting anything in return.
I come from the Hotrodding world and something that I have noticed when at the track and on the forums that, the "big dawgs" always have this point where they are like "well you have to pay for that kind of information". It is not like we all don't love what we do and have passion, and it is insulting to have people act like this towards you. They act like someone who works out of his car port on the weekend has the resources to turn a little tid bit of information into a revenue crushing operation that will still their business.
I mean I do understand of course I just think it goes overboard at a certain point when I am just asking for simple advice.
However, I don't want my first post to be a rant.
I just wanted to thank all of the regulars on here for their time and contributions and let them know it is very appreciated.
A little about me, I am a 25 year old who likes taking care of his cars. I also do just a tiny bit of detailing on the side for some extra cash. I am no where near the level of some of you guys on here but I am confident enough to trust myself working on other peoples paint. I have worked in a body shop before doing body work and found it to labor intensive and stressful for me so I returned to college to further my education. Paint correction for me now is mostly a hobby, but I do do about 2 jobs a month, as I work off referrals only.
I look forward to discussions and helping anyway that I might be able to.
