Bird poop etching

Hello Folks,

Quick question - just had my car fully detailed and it seems like this weekend I got hit by a parade of bird bombs. Unfortunately, some got etched in the paint. So, I was thinking of going over that area with Scratch X. I was going to take off the wax in those specific areas, apply scratch x by hand a few times, and then re-wax again. Does this seem right? any suggestions? THis is on an black 08 g35 sedan if that helps any!

That sounds right. Some bird bombs will eat through anything, but the paint protectant your detailer used didn't provide any protection at all?

he did put some protection on (zaino and carnuaba). Unfortunately, these bird bombs came during the day while I had the car out in the sun all day so I wiped them off towards the night.

Always take care of bird bombs ASAP. If you let it sit too long like I once did, you'll pay for it with permanent etching right to the primer layer. Here are examples of neglect where the bird bombs sat on my hood for a few weeks before I did anything about it.

most definitely. Do you think I will be able to remove the etchings? THey were on for no more than a day before I wiped it off.

Depends on the contents of the bird bombs. Some birds eat stuff that's more acidic than others. If the etchings are faint, they should come out, although I'm not sure how much effort will be required if correcting by hand.

That is some crazy etching! I have had some sit on my paint for a few weeks when I havent had time to clean it and its never done anything like that!

They must feed the birds radiation where you live... :D

I will check out the 105. I also have a scratch on my rear bumper (seems like paint transfer, can't feel it) so hopefully that will take care of that. thanks!
