I had a friend complain to me that the car he bought has these spots all over the hood .. i asked him to take a picture and send it over so I can see.

what do you guys think? The paint looks pretty oxidized, but I've never seen anything like that before (spots).

How would u remove that?

Could be from bird crap, tree sap, bug guts, etc. I just looked at some clear coat the other day with a magnifer and it was apparent that it had compromised and broken apart. It looked like little fragmented "clear islands" over the color coat.

When something like this is the case there is no way to remove, only refinish.

My prediction is those spots are goners (as others above have said). If you polish the thing up well they will probably be less noticeable.

i used yellow cutting pad w/ UPP and white polish pad with PP and brought most of the paint back ... definately less noticeable.

it looked like bird crap that was baked on for years or something .. that's too bad, it was all over his hood.

I would try AIO. I have spots on my hood that are permanent, which were caused by bird sh*t. I left them on the paint for 1-2 weeks (not intentionally though....I was out of town in a different car)
