Bimmer Brake dust

I recently found out my rims were really dirty. I bought a can of "Never Null" to clean the rims. it could clean up the yellow tints on the rims, but not the littel black dots. is there any products that can easily make the rims clean and do not hurt the rims?

thanks

A2Z, let it sit for about 30 sec a wheel, then scrub lightly with a bristle brush. I have polished Mille Miglia wheels, and I haven't noticed any scratching or discoloring of the metal. The only thing is that if you let this stuff dry on the wheels, it turns white, but that can be washed off with thurough rinsing. It evan cleaned the carbon residue off mty exhaust tip!

one tip with BMW wheels, with all the brake dust try using a sealant to make it easy to remove the dust, try AIO, UPP, #20, Z, EX or any other.

Are factory BMW wheels clearcoated?

If so, you really do not want to use something like Never Dull or a metal polish on them.

Sometimes if brake dust has been left to sit too long on wheels it can get embedded in and pretty much impossible to remove.... hopefully something like clay or a polish would take care of it.

When you buy a Bimmer, do they tell you brake dust helps preserve the wheels or something? Out of all the cars on the road I see, BMW's are by far the worst about having dark grey crusty wheels. I just want to yell at the drivers or at least pull up next to them with a bottle of cleaner and spray them down. Sorry, just a funny observation.

StLB5, From what I understand many bmw's brakes are fitted with pads that simply generate a lot of dust. I drive an E36M3 and can vouch for that. When I replace the pads next time I am planning on opting for a 'less dusty' brand. One thing is for sure, the brakes on that car sure do make it stop fast... (just have to clean them every couple days) :(

Yeah the thing that sucks about bmw brakes is that they dust up after half a day.

The thing that rules about bmw brakes is that they don't fade after 45 minutes of lapping and totally rock on the autox circuit.

Yes BMW wheels are clearcoated and yes the pads are to blame for all the dust. With a sealant you don't even need any wheel cleaner just normal car wash.

Yes BMW pads dust terribly. If you own a BMW i highly suggest changing to and aftermarket pad. One pad that i like is the Axxis Ultimate pads. They dust 50% less then the stock pads, have good cold bite, and stop much better then the stock pad once warmed. These pad are good for street, autoX, and light tracking. If you're interested in these Andie at www.colbaltfriction.com can tell you everything you need to know and give you great prices on product. I deal with him for my brakes because he has great customer service and is very knowledgable on the subject.
