Big Blue Drying Towel

So I am wondering if I need to toss some of my drying towels. They've stayed pretty clean and they do still dry cars like the new ones in my cabinet, but they've started to fray. What i mean by that is that it seems like the loops that make the waffle pattern are starting to come loose in some spots and they've taken on the long-haired look in a few spots (more like a rat-tail);)

Anyway, should I keep them or should I fear them marring paint? The majority of each of the 3 in question is still in good shape. Can I just trim their tails and remind them that it's not an ok look in the business world or should I just discard them as the lost boys that they want to be?

A few of my WWs have those frayed threads too, and they don't worry me. But IME the BBTs aren't the softest WWs in the world to begin with, so yeah, I'd trim the threads.

IMO the real threat would be that applied pressure would be greater when transmitted through the separate threads than it would be through the more integrated parts of the towel.

Now and then WWs *do* need replaced...I dunno if the BBTs would pass a CD-test, but if they *did* and now they *don't*, well, that's a clue :D

Thanks Accumulator. I figured and was afraid some one was going to agree with what I was already thinking. I was trying to hold on to them, but I think I just need to let them go. Maybe they can go to wheel duty or something else. They were the MicroPak WW from Pak Shak I think. Although they may have come from Excel. in any event, I just ordered 10 more from Pak Shak. thanks again.:xyxthumbs
