Best wheel cleaner in gallon bottles?

My favorite wheel cleaner is Eagle One A2Z, but it doesn't come in gallon bottles.

Can anyone recommend a good wheel cleaner or all purpose cleaner that is available in gallons?

If you had to choose between EF HI and Meguiar's APC+, which would you pick?

Try "All Wheel Cleaner" from www.coatsproducts.com. It costs $16.50 a gallon and literally melts the brake dust from the rims of my Ford Lightning. The rims are powder coated with a clear coat. I also use their Red Cleaner as a degreaser which is really good, and cheap also! $9.50 a gallon! This stuff melts the crap off my tires. The store is in Fullerton so I'm sure shipping would be pretty cheap for you. E-Mail me if you have any questions I have used pretty much all of his stuff. Todd

I've used EFHI and APC and both are great. For $20 its hard to beat EFHI, and its easy to get. If you have a local source for APC, great, give em a call and compare prices.

Eagle One does sell wheel cleaner by the gallon in their Pro Detail line, but they don't call it A2Z. I'd call them and ask what is the comparable wheel cleaner for pro use and find out who can sell it to you.

Re: APC, call Detailing Depot in Costa Mesa to see what they charge for a gallon of APC. It's prolly not cheap but they are a Meguiar's distributor/retailer and at least will stock it. Might be cheaper to drive to Orange Co than to have EFHI shipped from Florida. Worth a phone call....

I know this won't help you any, but the best wheel & tire cleaner I've ever used comes from my local detailing chemical supplier. This company makes some general usage detailing chemicals. Their Nu-Wheel wheel cleaner works great. It's safe for all types of wheels, cleans brake dust like it's nothing more than regular dirt and it's cheap, $9.95 a gallon. They are just some little, nobody, local company that happens to make some excellent detailing chemicals. I wouldn't have known they even existed except they are also the local ProWax distributor, thanks to Intell486. :D

Does the company have Name? Do they have a website? Is their wheel cleaner acid based?

I use EFHI as wheel cleaner and it works well.

Eric

Use the gallon bottles of EF HI and dillute it 1:1 ratio with water in your spray bottle. Will still work great and doubles the life of the wheel cleaner.

EF HI is a great product. It really performs well as both a wheel and tire cleaner. The front pads on my daily driver dust up heavily, and the EF HI works very well at removing all that crud. :up

The company's name is Autochem, they don't have a website and isn't acid based. They're just a little company run by 2 brothers and one of their sons. The son actually developed this cleaner over a period of a couple of years to get it just right.

I thought I read somewhere that it's not a good idea to use APC+ on wheels? Is that wrong? If it can be used, what would be the recommended dilution ratio?? APC+ is pretty cheap, especially if found locally and you don't have to pay shipping. I have two sources for it in Massachusetts, if anyone is interested.

I also use EFHI and have been happy with it. I use it on my wheels, tires and even clean nasty wheel wells with it. I mix mine 1:1 with water also and it still performs flawlessly. That way your getting 2 gallons of cleaner for $20! Pretty good deal. :)

EFHI gets a :up from me.

swhtech, I would be interested in the MA locations, have you used the product for wheel cleaning? What are the reasons for not using it on wheels?

Thanks Bostontim.

Three products I can recommend.

Pro's Non-Acid Wheel Cleaner is great and it is pretty cheap. You'll have to email them for your local distributor but sells a gallon for $11.50 and they also sell 5 gallon jugs for $45.00 (Only $9 a gallon there!)

Pro's Green Nitro also works on light brake dust (As long as you do it every couple weeks before the wheel becomes solid black this will take care of it). You have to spray it on, let it sit a few seconds, and then use your wheel brush to losen the brake dust and wash it off. It also works great for cleaning Tires and Wheel Wells. It is $9.95 a gallon and $39.95 for 5 gallons!

Autoint's Omni All Purpose Cleaner is also good. One gallon of it is $17 but it is concentrated at a 10:1 ration so you get a LOT for your money. I haven't tested it out enough but it seems to work well on brake dust. My wheels weren't black when I did it but they didn't have light brake dust either. I'll test it tomorrow again on another vehicle. You have to spray the wheel down and let it dwell for about 30 seconds to a minute, then scrub, and rinse off.

The Autoint stuff is also suppose to be okay to use on paint for bugs, bird poop, convertible tops, interiors, etc. It works on dwell time and isn't suppose to contain anything that can damage parts on your car.

PRO stuff you can check out at prowax.com and email to find a local distributor.

Autoint stuff you can check out autoint.com They prodcuts are called Valugard.

I'm a big fan Eimann Fabrik Hi Intensity Cleaner. The stuff works great. One thing though, remember rewax after using on painted wheels. I normally just wash with soap but every now an then I strip it all off with EFHI and start fresh and rewax.
