Best way to remove adhesive from tinted window?

I picked up a used 97' Explorer recently to just run around town and hack around in (my fiance thought I was joking when I said I was going to buy another vehicle so I didn't have to drive my baby in the rain!!), and it had a sticker right in the middle of the rear glass that just bugged the heck out of me so I removed it, leaving behind the adhesive. The window is factory tinted and I obviously don't want to harm it. What can I use to get this stuff off? I was thinking either 3M adhesive remover or Goof Off, but those products are pretty strong. What do you guys recommend?

Try goo gone. Yes, this product is different than goo off. In my experiences I've found goo gone to be a little less potent which might help since it's tinted glass you're talking about. If in doubt, call the manufacturer and ask.

Try Castrol Superclean.

Remember, whatever solvent/degreaser/chemical you use, keep it off your paint!

A heat gun or hair dryer can make removal easier as well. Just make sure you cover the area underneath the glass to catch any solvent you are using.

Oh, and be careful not to remove the defroster lines or whatever they're called.

Thanks guys, some good recommendations. I think I will try WD40 first, since I have tons of it here. By the way, it's on the inside of the window so thanks for reminding me about the defroster, certainly don't want to mess that up either.

To remove the glue off the window I used ammonia and the finest steel wool I could find (think it was #0000). Just cover everything below the window and spray some ammonia on and scrub with the steel wool. Wear one of those filter paper mask because the smell of ammonia can get you light headed pretty fast.
