best way to apply SG?

Well tomorrow will be my detailing day.. and my first day using my PC. I'm going to be using AIO and SG. I know the steps to take, but i'm curious on applying the SG.

I searched and searched regarding how to apply SG.. and from what I can see.. I can't find a definate way of doing it. I see alot of people saying you can apply it by hand, or with a PC. Some people say you can use a foam app by hand, some people say to use a MF by hand, some people say to use a polishing pad with the PC!. I was thinking of A: applying it by hand with a foam applicator, or B: using a PC with a MF bonnet.

What do you guys think??. What would you do?.

Thanks!

For the SG, dampen your MF applicator with sonus acrylic spritz and apply an extremely thin layer of SG by hand. When you think you're not using enough, you're using too much!!! good luck!

From what I've read in many articles, SG should be applied by a DRY applicator pad. I perfer using an MF pad by hand when applying SG and never have a problem with hazing or anything else....WHEN APPLIED THIN!!!!

It's one thing to read an article about applying SG by hand......it's another thing to actually apply it by hand using both methods. ( dry/damp) I've used both methods and what's worked for me for a few years is dampening the MF app. w/Sonus Acrylic Spritz. What works for some may not work for all. I suggest experimenting as much as possible to find what suits you best.

As for not using the foam app. for the SG...........I find the MF app allows for a more evenly distributed thin coat.

just my 2 cents!

To each his own..

However, I believe there may be bonding issues if SG is mixed with anything else other than itself....

If, in fact, there is no problem, I shall give it a try.

The Sonus products (Spritz and Glanz) were designed for the klasse products. Don't get me wrong, both methods work. Besides..........How can you go wrong with quality products such as Klasse & Sonus!!!

Good stuff!!

I finally used the pc to apply the aio-gray foam applicator- much less work as you would expect and no difference in the results; perfect both ways. The four coats of sg were applied by hand, let dry only about half hour between, wiped with a cotton cloth and final wipe was with a micro cloth; way too easy.

Liberal use of a final detail spray on the applicators for both the aio and sg.

I'll take the advice of CMA and continue to apply the sg by hand rather than machine.

is there a reason no one uses a foam applicator pad by hand?

I always apply SG with a dry foam applicator. Never had any problems of any kind. I put it on *very* thin, so much so that I can't see it on silver. I use far less than one ounce for an entire minivan. I let it set up at least a few hours rather than using the w-o-w-o method. I fog the surface with my breath when removing to help me see the SG and to aid in its easy removal. The small amount of moisture in my breath does not appear to compromise the SG.

I do similar as well... Apply with a dry foam MF (Clearkote foam app as these are thinner than the Meg's one's)...And a very light spritz, even with water before removing with the MF makes it so much easier imho.

I use a PC with an LC grey finishing pad at 3. No spritz. Very thin. Wipe off almost immediately with a dry plush mf. Repeat every weekend (for however many coats you desire).

Works great for me.

Klasse and Sonus Spritz are formulated (almost) the same way so there should not be any bonding issues.

There is no â€Ëœone correct wayâ€â„¢ to apply a product, most detailers have their own preferred methodology. The way detailing products are customized are what each individual finds give them their desired results

Accumulator, I also used foam to apply the Klasse twins then I ordered a kit which included 'Viper' mf applicators, fiber over some sort of foam and I immediately preferred these, but not for any reasons which I can quantify, they just feel better.

RJJ- No argument from me. As TOGWT said, there's no one "correct" way to do it. I initially used MF applicators like yours (probably the exact same ones, green MF over foam, also tried some white MF over foam) to apply SG. Then I tried foam and liked it better. As with your experiences, I'm hard pressed to explain *why* I have the preference I do. If I *had* to explain it, I'd say I find it easier to get a thin, uniform application with the foam. People oughta try different approaches and see what they prefer.

i wipe sg on a dry mf pad and immediatly wipe off with a dry mf cloth. this is how bob from klasse usa showed me at the car sf car show few years back. works fine no haze.:xyxthumbs

you guys are really helping me out!. I have another question to throw into the mix. I wasn't able to detail my car today.. but I plan on doing it tomorrow.. it's going to be 60 during the day, and 30's at night for the next week. I planned on applying SG tomorrow (Weds) morning/afternoon.. then driving to work with the car. Then wash the car with Eagle One Wet Car Wash on Thursday morning to get off dust and whatever else from my hr drive the previous day.. and applying a 2nd coat of SG after my wash. Is it ok to apply SG in 60's during the day and 30's at night temp, and washing the car before a 2nd coat of SG the following day?.

Thanks!!
