My car was painted about 2 yrs ago, and the fender and part of the hood/front end was resprayed in April, the paint itself is pretty good but i want the glass look....what are some good polishes/waxes that are good for white paint and can be applied by hand? Keep in mind i have never waxed a car so ease of use is definitely a plus...
thanks

First Welcome to the group:howdy

Second: Big C's fan here too...

Third: Use the search feature or browse our forumn for some specific type answers.

Forth: Any wax and or sealant that you apply by hand are fairly easy to use as long as you follow the directions. Meaning keep out of direct sunlight and use a very thin coating layer of the product, you will find this will make it so much easier. Also get yourself some good MFT's (Microfiber towels).

As for polish, thats tough, first like the LSPs there are just so many, but while some can be used by hand they tend to really show their worth when joined with a buffer of some sorts. While it can be done by hand plan on it taking most of the day.

Ya im not sure if I even really need the polish, I think a wax would be fine the car shines, just not as much as it used to...ive looked around ill have to search for one thats good for light colors

I've used Poorboy's Polish with Carnuba (PwC) on our white Honda Pilot and it does an amazing job. It's very easy to use, both in shade or in sunshine. You will not be disappointed.

is it a wax or a polish? Doesnt a polish fill in scratches and what not? But ill have to look into that

PWC (Poorboys with Carnuaba) Is an AIO (All in one) meaning its a polish with a wax added. A polish will not fill scratches rather smooth down the area around the scratch to eliminate it (Depending on how big and deep the scratch is)

Welcome to the site from Sonoma County CA

I know that your car looks real clean and shiny...but have you ever clayed the car?

To me a cars finish that has only really been waxed over the years...looks good but there is a lot of build up that clay will take off and let you start from a fresh finish.

Then I would be looking at an AIO product that will clean and remove minor swirls...I'm sure that you can't see many that's because of the color...if that car was black it would be a whole different look...to finish up I would use a good paste wax or sealant

No not yet ill be purchasing the clay bar and lube real soon, i know my back bumper definitely needs it. So your advice is to go with an AIO then finish it off with a past wax/sealant?

Someone on another board recommended the zaino bros z2 polish...any insight on that?

I can't comment on Zaino I've not used enough of there stuff and really I'm not a fan of them.

The thing to remember in doing a paint detail...is to clean the car (wash) clay to lift any debris that are stuck to the finish. This sets you up for a better finish.

Then polish to correct any minor imperfections ( the AIO is good in this step) in the finish, then protect that...in regards to sealants and waxes they are both protectors and can be layered on each other..the sealant is the first step the paste wax goes on top of that...IMO on white a good sealant makes the white POP more and its also more durable than wax.

I like PB PwS because it';s easy to work with and the results are awsome. Even in direct sunlight. (not like a white car is to worry about). Then I would top it off with a sealant or a wax. PB EX is a sealant with carnauba, EX-P is a pure sealant. Both are awsome. You can also use Natty's which is a paste wax.

We could go on for hours to find out which products are best. To me, easy of use it important because I don't have a garage to detail and PB are great products and can be applied in direct sunlight.

Meguiar's ColorX for the first wax. Then Meguiar's NXT. I have a white Dodge ram and my wife has a white Tacoma. Easy products to use and readily available.

A couple of underrated, good, locally available products.
COLORx is not as easy to find in this area as the NXT.
If you do decide to purchase the NXT Tech Wax, be sure to get the version 2. It will say NXT Tech Wax 2.0 on the bottle. It's their latest version and is supposed to have more durability.
While there are those that don't have the problem, I would suggest you not get either product on textured plastic trim. If you do, wipe it off immediately.

Just as a point of information.
The prep of your paint is more important than the last step product whether it be a wax or sealant.
If you use a good paint cleaner/polish, then a lot of waxes/sealants will look good.
On white cars, (Also red, black, silver, blue, gold, maroon, etc.....), I have used well over a dozen different waxes and sealants and they all looked good to me.

since you have a white car what would YOU recommend for an AIO and a sealant to top it off with?

I have a white Ford Focus that I use as a daily driver. I polished and waxed it yesterday.

I polished with Menzerna 106FF and waxed with Clearkote's Carnauba Moose Wax. I'm happy with CMW's look on white and on my Black Impala SS. It's pretty easy on and easy off.

I've had a bunch of combinations on the car other than that though. I liked Poorboy's EX-P and EX on it as well. As a general rule, it's the prep that makes the LSP look good and if an LSP looks great on black, chances are it will look great on white as well. Spend the time polishing and then whatever you put on it will look awesome! :D
