Ive been researching trying go find a cheap paint gauge that`ll work on plastic/fiberglass/CF with no real success but did come across some interesting ones in various price ranges

under $100 priced units have been mentioned various times in other threads. BUT, this one may be worth a look too

Phase II+ UTG-2900

UT2000 ultra sonic gauge

There are no Cheap total thickness gauges that measure all types of media out here except for ---- Defelsko PosiTector 200 Series (Advanced)
And it is not cheap for a reason... :)

The one you listed in sold in the UK ?? What happens if it breaks? Warranty Station in the US ?
Does it break down the measurement by layer?

I went to the measureitall website.. Clicked "Contact Us" and you get laser measuring equipment instead of their address info.......

The most expensive gauge the something.."200" goes on about measuring all these types of materials but never says it measures metals..

And the error rate is +- 2um + 3% reading something?? That is not as accurate as their less expensive models that only measure ferrous and non ferrous metals at +- 1um..

Perhaps I didn`t find the exact one you posted ??

Are you really going to need to measure total thickness of a Lot of Fiberglass/Carbon Fiber, Plastic Bumpers, etc... ?

I know a few Detailers that have the expensive DeFelsko and they don`t have any problems with it..
Good Luck with your research !

You looked at wrong one
You looked at the PT 2000

I`m talking about the UT2000,it indeed measures metals , steel/aluminum

As for the UK one, no different then when people buy the 2 most popular ones from China, not worried about it breaking
Yourr going to have to ship it either way..

Cem dt 156 is what I currently have and no issues, just like plenty of people

On the fiberglass/CarbonFiber and urthane bumpers, no, but it would be a nice tool to have
