Best topper for AIO?

What have you guys tried as far as toppers for AIO-wax's or sealants? What sealants or waxes dont work well? More specifically has anyone tried to top AIO with Butter Wax?

Thanks for the tips,
Andrew

In my limited experience AIO/UPP is a great combination for a sealant LSP.
I have also used AIO/S100 Carnauba as a combination and it also looked good.
I did use AIO/NXT for a few months on the wife's GTP, but I felt that the NXT made the paint look darker. If I had wanted darker paint, I would have purchased a darker color to start with.:)
I can't imagine that AIO would be anything other than excellent as a prep for any LSP.

I've tried AIO with UPP, EX-P, Natty's, Natty's Blue, S100 and Pinnacle Signature. All of these were great.

It seems like AIO + just about anything is better than the LSP by itself. As a matter of fact, AIO by itself looks great...and despite what some people say it offers pretty decent durability too.

What do you think about AIO topped with EX ? Right now I have AIO topped with EX-P on my wife's Liberty that has a Dark Beryl Green finish with a light flake. I ordered some EX and QD+ so I could get some carn. wax action and try to get more of a deeper or glossier look than the brighter straight-sealant 'shine' look.

Thanks!

Top AIO with Klasse SG and with as many coats as you desire! Top SG with a high quality Carnuba such as Souveran or Ps21. By the way, the Yankees did win tonight and in first place!

I've done AIO before EX. Click here for pics AIO and Souveran looks incredible on dark colors and I have gotten good durability out of AIO/Nattys original and AIO/DP Max Wax.

Finally the Yanks are back where they belong. I've been a Yankee fan for as long as I can remember (grew up in upstate NY).

AIO and SG were made to go together . SG does look somewhat plastic-like though when layered . Depending on the color , that could be okay though .
I've done a final polish with Vanilla Moose glaze , then applied AIO by hand then topped with Carnuba Moose wax and it lasted 4 months + with two coats of CMW

I only use the AIO for my winter prep, my personal preference, and I follow it up with two coats of SG. As someone did point out, the SG does have a very plastic look to it, on my red truck anyway, but as difficult as it is to keep it clean in the winter here, I live with. I figure since the two are made for eachother, as someone else pointed out, it provides a good combo for winter.

I am doing the AIO/Souveran on my wife's deep metallic gray. It looks fantastic. This is a new combo for me for I can't say much about the durability. I am going to try it with Natty's next.

Please post some pics, GT. My Magnesium Metallic would look similiar to your wifes, I think. Next weekend I am going to start winterizing with AIO, SGx?, then top with either Nattys-Blue or Souveran. Not sure which - probably Nattys-Blue since I have all the Poorboy S&W & QD+, and I don't yet have any Souveran, but can quickly get a hold of some. (I like keeping the topper, QD, wash, etc. in the same product family as much as possible.)

Just did a Sage/Green (almost champagne) BMW X5. Prepped with WG PolyClay, OP, an AIO. Topped with FMJ. Client loved it and it was dripping

So MachB5 do you think that the AIO cleans and leaves the finish Shiney, while the topper really just adds the wet look? I feel as do many that AIO leaves a really shiney finish, but not very wet, what do you think? Also how are the bonding issues with AIO?

Andrew,
I have found that the OP really does a lot of the work with shine, but I used AIO instead of Pinnacle paint cleanser this time and was super happy with how it turned out. I figured I was using a cleanser with a slick finish on it that would boost the final shine...and it did. It looked very shiny and cleaned up the paint but not as much of a deep wet as wehn I applied the FMJ. Then, when I applied the FMJ, I started to notice a big difference. The paint began to gain depth on top of the clarity. Sorry, I can't comment on the bonding issues, but I guess we'll find out in a couple of rains. Normally, I would've followed with Natty's Original (which is what I followed his identically colored Z4 with on Saturday), but the client wanted the last step to be a sealant for winter protection-- and FMJ is so good looking! This is my first time with this particular process. At least the looks are rockin! Hope this ramble helps out with your decision.

Another vote for the AIO/ UPP combo. Awesome!

Rob, I'm surprised you aren't going with AIO + Souveran on your car...it is an awesome combo on red.

Agreed....used AIO + 3 coats of SG last year when I winterized my car. Gonna do it again in a few weeks, AIO + at least 2 SG coats.

The only thing I worry about is is the initial UPP bonds to or takes off any of the AIO. Since SG is OK to put on AIO right away (the 1st coat, anyway), I figure the UPP is similarly OK. Outside of the stuff heavy with petroleum distallates like Glanz Wax that takes off earlier coats, my guess is any and all of our LSP's are bondable to each other, the other LSP's, or a base coat like AIO. Whether SG bonds best ontop of AIO or not, hey, it's like a "New & Improved" debate -- who can tell? Most of these are chemically similar, but I guess we'd need a chemist or somebody with measuring tools to verify this.

Till then, our collective experiences will have to do.

As far as I understand, there aren't any significant bonding issues with AIO and anything else, since there isn't protection in the product leaving wax or silicone behind. I might be wrong.
