Best Spray Sealer atop GlossCoat?

Hello all

Soon I will be doing a full correction on my caR. So we will be applying GlossCoat over the clean paint.

It's ease of application doesn't matter to me. Im looking for a spray that can add a wow factor and further add to the protection glosscoat gives.

Also I will be applying this spray to the bare paint on my wheels and body kit. I will get the kit painted next week and I wanted to let the paint dry some more before applying a coating.

I was thinking Z8, Optiseal, Reload, something else? I will use ChemGuys Synth Detailer to keep dust off or wipe off pollen. I just don't know what will be best to enhance the color and protection.

So to alleviate my confusion:

CaR:

Paint
GlossCoat
Spray Sealant/detailer of sorts?
Wax
Synth Detailer


Wheels and body kit:

Paint
Spray sealant/detailer of sorts?
Wax
Synth Detailer

So, it sounds like you want to use a spray sealant for extra gloss until you can wax it? The coating is protection enough, so go with whatever looks good. CG V7, FK425, Aquawax, and your suggestions all look good. If the car in your avatar is the car, PB QD+ will look great. Be careful that the spray sealant/wax/QD is compatible with the coating.

As for the wheels, it's a waste to put 50/50 on them. You need a good high-temp wax or a dedicated wheel sealant. FK1000, Collinite 476, PB Wheel Sealant, something like that. A lot of us use Hydro2 on wheels because it's SO easy.
 
I wouldn't top it at all. Apply some Poorboys spray and wipe after each wash. Done. You do NOT want to alter the coatings properties, otherwise you're wasting your time.
 
I will be one of the guys that disagrees on "not topping" a coating. I do agree that using a wax on a coating is a waste but there are options that are made to work with / enhance coatings.

These are other options for topping up a coating that I have tried and liked.

  • Sonax BSD (QD that acts like a coating)
  • Kamikazi Over Coat (Playing with it now and very cool)
  • Carpro Reload (One of the best sealant / toppers made to minimize the chance of water spotting and looks great)
  • CarPro Hydro2 (Spray and rinse. It's that easy. Great for wheels)
  • Gyeon Q2M WetCoat (Same as Hydro2 only easier to use)
  • Gyeon Q2 Bathe+ (Car wash with Reload in it. Wash and gloss/slick in one step.)


If you want a QD only I would say OID to stay in the Opti camp or FK#425. FK425 is my favorite post wash drying aid.
