Best Shelf Life for a Wax

Lately I have noticed that all my waxes are getting Nasty. It's my bad because I didn't line the lid with plastic like I usually do. I haven't been using them that much because I've been stuck on the sealant thing, but I'm wondering what product gives you the best shelf life. I have to say Natty's looks the best out of mine, even s100 is getting dried out and seperating.

My S100 is about a year old and fine. When put away, I kept the original wax paper top and foam applicator under the blue lid. All my waxes are stored in my back garage which is drywalled and insulated. My wife was less than pleased because I kept the furnace on all winter in my back garage because thats where ALL my detailing equipment is. Hey, a guy has to protect his investment, right? :nixweiss :D

They should last longer in the fridge.

Where do you have them stored and how long has it taken for s100 to start drying out?

Put your fingers in your ears Zymol haters..3-years thus far and used last week-end, I have one unused that's four years old.

Not bad for a natural product considering a synthetic polymer (Zaino) has a shelf life of 3-years.

(Not meant as antagonistic :nono )

Perhaps there is something to their "21-century application of the canning jar (with its neoprene O-ring seal) made from pharmaceutical grade recyclable polystyrene"

I have year old P21S, S100 and Pinnacle Souveran and they all are fine. I think carnauba shelf life is very long.

I recieved my first jar of Trade Secret about four years ago from a neighbor who found it at a Porsche show. That day he bought 2 jars and gave one to me; since then I have probably bought 6-8 more containers. His initial jar from 4 years ago still has a small amount left (2-3 cars) but is holding up like a champ. Most likely from the container having an O-ring.

I have some surluser from the 1950's that still works great....

I'll second that one. I've a partial can of Zymol Titanium which is approaching four years old and is still in good condition. Wouldn't hesitate a moment to use it. In fact, may switch back to it next weekend. Getting tired of seeing Souveran take a runner a bare three weeks after application.

The above said, I think it important to mention that I keep all my carnauba in ziploc bags and squirrelled away in a refridgerator drawer.

If you kept your wax in the fridge, would you need to pull it out and let it come to room temp. before using it? Looks like I might just have to get another small fridge for the garage. Ohh, and what temp. would you set the fridge at?

All of my waxes in tins seems to stay fine indefinitely; I have stuff (Pro "yellow" wax, forget the item number from the '70s that's still fine. Mike Phillips has some *very* old cans of #16 that are still fine.

I expect my hoarded cases of #16 and 476S to stay good throughout my lifetime.

My Souveran doesn't get any special treatment (nothing under the lid, etc.) but there's nothing wrong with it after more than five years.

Actually, I seldom seem to have any problems with shelf life. I have a lot of old products that haven't gone bad.
