Best product with one coat protection

All opinions welcome:

Time is always against me therefore I am looking for the best products that have the most durability with one coat coverage.

For example I would always do a polish topped with protection of some sort.

I just don't have time to apply numerous coats on my vehicles.

I'm guessing that Zaino would be the most durable with one coat. If you consider Klasse AIO the "polish" and SG the sealant, then that combo would probably do just as well. Or maybe an AIO "polish" base then Zaino. I've used all of these at one time or another, but never done a side-by-side test. I always put on a few layers of Zaino for the winter months though. I'm guessing that by the time this thread is through you're going to be more confused than before you posted.:D

From the Collonite Website: [/QUOTE]
One of the finest paste type auto waxes available. Easy to apply and absolutely DETERGENT PROOF. Collinite Super Doublecoat is guaranteed to outlast and outshine any other competitive auto wax, polish or protective coating under any conceivable condition. That's why it's called the PERMANENT AUTO WAX. No hard rubbing or buffing... and no special applicator is required. Collinite Super Doublecoat will last a full year, even under adverse conditions. Clear coat safe.

I have not tried this product, but the "Permanent Auto Wax" and lasting a full year intrigues me.

Can anyone confirm?:nixweiss

COLLINITE is one of the best waxes on the market. There top of the line wax MDE is $25.00 and a great product. The only problem is it is APITA to take off. They make a double #476 which is not so hard to remove.COLLINITE makes several liquid waxes that are easier to remove. You can use COLLINATE 3x a year and be happy with your protection.Lasting an entire year(I dont think so)I have a friend that has a black MB and he does his car 2X a year and it always looks nice and shinny

If you want to use a wax-based product, then Collinite is probably the best choice.

If you want a sealant (which will outlast any carnauba), then Zaino is the King of Durability. I'd put AIO/SG combo in 2nd place.

Thanks guys,

I do have AIO, but not its twin(SG) but have been thinking about ordering. I ordered some Z-5 polish but I didn't see anything on their site for protection/sealant. I "thought I only saw polish's"

I will look again. What is one of Zaino's good protectors/sealants.

I would like to try out their line of products.

I believe the Z5 is a sealant with some swirl hinding abilities. If you do not have swirls, then go with Z2 as it supposed to have higher optical qualities (whatever that means). I think you will also need Z1 as a first step before applying Z5 or Z2. Luckily, Z1 is an apply only product. You apply Z5 or Z2 directly on Z1 then wipeoff.

Looks like I'll need to order again.... Man, I wish Zaino was sold locally. It takes about 5 days to recieve an order.

Hopefully someone else will chime in as to whether you can use Z5 or Z2 without the Z1. I think it is a bonding issue if you do not use Z1, but you may be able to use another product to prep the surface. I've never tried, but hopefully someone else has.

The labeling of Zaino products is a little confusing. They call Z2 and Z5 "show car polish", but these are actually sealants. I think they call them polish because that is a term the "common man" is familiar with. Neither has any cleaning or abrasive polishing abilities.

Common wisdom says Z2 is best on light colored cars, and Z5 looks good on darker paint and has some swirl-hiding abilities (although I have found it doesn't do a very good job at this). Either Z2 or Z5 is actually fine for any color paint, but some people prefer one over the other.

To get the Zaino (Z2 or Z5) to bond to your paint, you should ideally use either ZFX (a catalyst that speeds up the curing, and is added directly to Z2 or Z5) or use Z1 (Z1 is wiped onto the paint before application of Z2 or Z5 and helps them bond). That said, I have gotten decent bonding without ZFX or Z1 by putting down a base of AIO first. I apply Z2 or Z5 right after I remove the AIO residue. So if you don't want to order any more Zaino products you could try this combo as soon as your Z5 comes in.

Also, go to the Zaino website and read through all of the directions, instructions, and tips & tricks. This will give you a good understanding about how the Zaino "system" works.

DaveN,

Thanks for the info. I did explore there site a bit more and did order some Z-2. Z-5 attracted me to it because of the swirl hiding abilities. I think I will try the AIO + Z-2 or Z-5.

If you have AIO, then you can top it with Collinite or Meguiars #16 Pro Paste Wax. #16 will be a bit easier to use and should lasts longer than most other carnaubas (Collinite probably outlasts it though).

just use AIO by itself or top it if you wish.I see people say that AIO by itself doesn't offer any protection but this my truck after 4+ month of winter parked outside in rain, snow, sleet, leaves and everything else that fell on it. One coat of AIO in October and washed the end of February and the water rolled right off.

Snowblower held OK as well.

For one-coat jobs I use Ultracoat Wax from P&S. The "wax" in the name is somewhat of a misnomer, it is a pure polymer sealant, no "natural wax" content whatsoever.

BlackRegal, is there is link to where I can get more information about this product?

Thanks.
