Well I am beginning to get all of my products in and I am getting really anxious to begin my detail. I am wanting to have a set procedure before I get started so that I can move throught the detail with confidence and know that i am doing it the best way for the best results.

So here are all of my products, what do you all recommend I do. If you don't mind maybe give a step by step with some detail. Such as wait time, amount etc. I know it might be alot but thanks in advance.

1. EX-P
2. Spray & Gloss
3. Super Slick & Suds Car Wash
4. Super Swirl Remover (SSR1)
5. Super Swirl Remover (SSR2.5)
6. Poorboy's Polish w/ Carnuba
7. Natty's Paste Wax
8. Red Moose Machine Glaze
9. Bug Squash

Any information would be greatly appreciated. :dunno

Thanks alot

Well, one of the main things that I see missing from your product list is a claybar. That will help out alot. So with your products I would

1. Wash with Super Slick and Suds
2. Claybar ( I made my own lubricant - 50/50 Distilled Water/Car Wash works great, and you get to keep the detail spray for in between washes. You can also use your car wash as lubricant, but remember to keep it wet when using the clay)
3. SSR2.5 with a medium cut pad on 6 (Spread it out on 2-3 and kick it up to 6) You may get some hazing after this and...
4. SSR1 with polishing pad/finishing pad to remove fine scratches and hazing left over from SSR2.5 if any

For the PwC or RMMG... From what is recommeneded and makes perfectly good sense to me is there is no need in using 2/3/4 products on the same car that kinda do the same thing. You might like the look of SSR1 with a finishing pad and decide to keep it. Pick one or the other. No need in waisting products. Try the PwC on a panel, see how it looks after the SSR1, if you like it keep going, and if not try the RMMG... You get the point.

5. Then apply the EX-P to seal all that hard work in. Some light to top their sealants with a wax, but I've heard if your're using the sealer for longevity then don't top it with a wax. Up to you.
6. Apply the Natty's on a panel, if you like it keep going. If you decide to keep applying the Nattys over the EX-P remember that the longevity of the sealant wont we as long as without the Nattys.
7. Maintain with S&G

Kinda new to the "Real Detailing" scene myself but this should get you started and I'm sure someone will jump in later. Remember to search the site for alot of great information. You will find bunches and bunches of information. HTH

1. EX-P: Apply using an applicator dampened with water. Apply to entire vehicle, wait 45 minutes or more, then wipe off residue. If using a PC, apply with a finishing pad at speed 2.

2. Spray & Gloss: Mist over a clean surface. Use a high quality MF towel to spread by lightly moving the towel from side to side, turn to a dry section of towel, then wipe again.

3. Super Slick & Suds Car Wash: This is a very concentrated product. Dilute to half an ounce per gallon of water. Put about 1/4 of the desired water into a bucket, add the appropriate amount of SS&S, then add the remaining 3/4 amount of water using a sharp stream. The water pressure is needed to fully dissolve/activate the shampoo.

4. Super Swirl Remover (SSR1): Apply using a dry applicator pad (i.e. do not prime with water). Do one panel at a time. If using a PC, apply with a polishing or finishing pad at speed 4-5.

5. Super Swirl Remover (SSR2.5): Apply using a dry applicator pad (i.e. do not prime with water). Do one panel at a time. If using a PC, apply with a cutting, light cutting, or polishing pad at speed 5-6.

6. Poorboy's Polish w/ Carnuba: Apply using a dry applicator pad (i.e. do not prime with water). Apply to entire vehicle, then immediately begin wiping off the residue. If using a PC, apply with a polishing pad at speed 4-5.

7. Natty's Paste Wax: Apply using a foam applicator pad dampened with water. Apply to 2-3 panels, then wipe off the residue. If using Natty's Blue, do 1-2 panels at a time.

8. Red Moose Machine Glaze: Apply using a dry applicator pad. Do one panel at a time. If using a PC, apply with a polishing pad at speed 4.

9. Bug Squash: For removal of moderate bug splatter or tar, dilute using 3 parts water to 1 part Bug Squash. Mist onto surface and let stand for a few minutes, then wash vehicle as usual. Use full strength for tough stains; however, this may compromise your LSPs.

Brent, you have basically asked a question that is almost impossible on line to answer. Every car and every finish is different and will need different techniques...we can tell you which order and how each product should be used, but you may need a certain pad anda certain number of passes to accomplish what you have in mind. This is not an exact science and it will be a try and see approach.
Questions to start with (sort of like a flow chart)
Wash the car (Super Slick & Suds)
If the finish is smooth skip the clay if it's not clay it...you can use 1/4 ounce of SS&S with 31 ounces of water as a lube...
Do you have a lot or a few swirls?
a) a lot ..use a light cutting pad with SSR2.5 ..spread at 2-3 work until it disappears at 5-6
b) only a few swirls...use a polishing pad with SSR2.5 work as above...
Are all the swirls gone after the first pass? one or 10 more passes may be needed:dunno again each car is different ...
Same steps with SSR1 but now it's either the polishing pad or a finishing pad.
Next would come either PwC with a finishing pad or RMG , no need for both!
Then comes EX-P ....expalanations by awd330 are easy to follow, from here on....

Thanks for all of the replies, they all helped. I know that there is no definite answer but at least I will have a general guideline, which is exactly what I wanted. Things might change for my application (swirls, etc.) but at least I have an idea what to do.

Thanks
Brent

as long as you have the basic wash, clay, paint clean/polish, wax/sealant type job then the paint will at least be clean. People who think there are only three steps to paint care are sorely mistaken. :lol
