Hi people, have just taken delivery of a new VW Tiguan, Reflex Silver paint, ? is never owned a car other than black and would like your recommendations on polish/wax/sealant best suited to Euro silver.

Thank you

Rusty

I have a silver metallic Scion xB. I found that Jet Seal 109 topped with Chemical Guy's Pete's 53 really makes the silver pop. As far as polishes... I would just use a finishing polish on something that new. Just make sure you inspect every inch and make sure the vehicle doesn't have any fallout, especially rail dust embedded in the paint. Mine had a significant amount of rail dust right off the dealer lot. And be sure to do a thorough claying of the paint surfaces before you polish or seal/wax. Post some pics too!

For my Silver car. Turtle Wax ICE + Lucas Slick Mist, is the best I've seen. Either way a synthetic wax will look best on metalic colors.

Whatever you do don't get Pete's 53 for VAG silver cars it dulls the flakes. I have a silver A4 and have not been able to get the flakes to pop even with 3 coats of Pete's 53. I will probably try CG 50/50 or Natty's blue. As for sealant I've been really happy with CG M-seal or Jetseal 109 both go on and come off easy with a good 6 month durability if applied in 2 coats. I was getting better pop with Meguiar's NXT.

Same ol' same ol'....it's all personal preference. Though I wouldn't choose the same stuff for silver that I'd use for black or red.

Some silvers (e.g. Mazda) look super with Klasse on them, others (e.g., Audis) look awful (hey, just IMO). Ditto for a lot of other LSPs on other silvers, but again, that's just *my* take on them and somebody else could easily have a very different opinion.

FWIW, UPP is my fave for Audi silver, and I can't help but wonder if the VW silver is similar.

But it's really all in the prep. People sometimes think silver is OK without proper prep because the marring isn't as readily apparent, but IME that "marring you can't see" is what usually makes it look less than impressive.

Hmmm... Interesting. Pete's 53 made my Classic Silver Metallic pop like no other, with just one coat. Mind you I applied EZ Creme Glaze prior to Jet Seal and the Pete's as a topper.

+1!!! I have seen hacks not even polish silver if it's "not too bad". Mine, I use the sun, halogens, LED's and florescent lights. It's gotta be perfect. That's just me. FWIW, all my silvers, including my own, are like mirrors. I would challenge anyone to find any marring on mine! LOL ! ! :woot2:

Zaino with the ZFX flash cure mixed in it, is still considered to be one of the best for light colored cars. Offers great protection also.

I am a die hard fan of Blackfire Wet Diamond all finish paint protectant, looks awesome and last a very, very long time.

If it were my vehicle I would buff it out with Menzerna PO106FF on a white pad, lay down a coat of Blackfire all finish protectant followed by two coats of DWG and finish it with two more coats of Blackfire for added protection. That should look awesome and last for at least 6mo.

Quit though :secret this is my trade secret method and I charge dearly for it.

For a concourse pop, I would add on two top coats of Fuzion, BAM!!!

Note that Zaino has a "signature look" that might be/might not be what somebody wants to see. Sorta like Klasse in that regard.

I was utterly shocked how much BF darkened Audi silver. I did my S8 with it and parked the car next to my wife's (identically prepped) silver A8, which had a different LSP on it. My S8's paint looked so dark compared to hers that you'd *swear* it had a different paint code! I always use different LSPs on those two cars, and I've never seen such a dramatic difference with any other products.

Don't get me wrong, I like BF and use it for certain things were nothing else will give the same results. But IME people need to consider whether the potential darkening is what they want to see on the paint in question.
