Best for White

Allow me to introduce myself as your newest forum member. My name is Greg Lee and I live in Birmingham, AL. I was directed to this forum by one of the members who also hangs out over at Corvetteforum.com.

I've got several cars, but the only one I get anal with is a 1998 Corvette Convertible, triple black with 13K miles.

I've always enjoyed working on cars and that led to my involvment with amatuer motorsports 'cause when you race 'em, God knows you have ample opportunity to fix 'em. I enjoy detailing the most, since I can do it anytime whether it's needed or not.

I look forward to spending some time here and expect to learn a lot.

Later..........

Weclome to the forum Greg!! Since you love detailing this is the place for you. I am sure you will love it here, the amount of knowledge here is truly amazing. If you have a question on a product chances are someone here has tried it.

Welcome aboard, and have fun. :bounce

Welcome to the fourm, sometimes I think we could start our own race. We could be the wax bandits.

Instead of killing people, we'd wax the floor and make them slip out of the third floor window and die. If we have road rage, we'd use our shiny cars to blind people and drive them off the road. I can see the punk wax bandits now, they go out and swap peoples Pinnacle Souveran for turtle wax.

Ok enough of this, I gotta get a drink, it's friday woo hoo!

Hey Greg, Welcome Aboard! Sounds like a great car you have there to detail and cruise in.

If you stick around, you WILL learn a lot, too much probably! :p

I'd like to add my welcome. This is truly a unique place you've found. Have fun reading thru the posts, especially the archives. The amount of knowledge there is incredible.

Triple black, yep, yep, yep you're going to really like it here! Welcome to town Greg! :)

I am currently using Powerlock and it looks great. When I am finished with Powerlock I am going back to Blackfire Wet Diamond. I have also used Collinite 845 and Klasse AIO. Klasse is not as glossy as the sealants but topped with a wax you get the best of both worlds ? a warm shine and protection. When I topped Klasse AIO with the Klasse sealant my car looked like it had a candy shell. I know I threw out many options when you want someone to give you one choice. Well I think it comes down to personal preference. If you only want to try one??try Blackfire.

I have used 845iw, BFWD sealant and Ultimate paint guard plus. All looked great on white. The process and prep will be the most important step. If the car has swirl marks it will detract from the gloss. If you are not comfortable with polishing yet, use a glaze. I have used white diamonds before I had polishing down(not sure I have it down yet either!)

Good luck, whatever you use, thin for the win. Anything that does not touch the paint is waste of product and time buffing off.

All things being equal with the prep work, I really like Collinite 845 on white. You will find many threads on this subject. It's all personal preference. I would recommend trying BFWD and then on another car 845 and see what you prefer.

My choice for white

I have a Ford F150 crew cab (too large) that is white. I have used: Mothers Cleaner wax, Cheap Prestone wax, and Meguires Gold Class. All worked but I was looking for more shine. Based on advice I recieved here I have been using Klasse AIO with Colonite 845 as a top coat. This combo is the best I have tried so far, makes the truck shine like it never has. Water still beads up after maybe 10 washes (My truck is parked outside). I was 2-3 times a week.

I have one white and one black car. Black diamond is my choice of the Black car. Trying to find sometime that snaps on a white car. Black diamond seems to be for dark colors.
