I have only owned black cars since ive been into detailing my own car etc. I just traded my black Tahoe for a white diamond suburban. What is the best wash and wax that will bring out the pearl in the paint?

I really liked NXT wash for metallics in general but it has been discontinued. For an LSP on pearl it's hard to beat DG105 for looks. If you want to balance looks with protection Meg's ultimate is a great choice.

I'd use FK1000P every few months and use some FK425 when drying.

For the wash, I'm currently mixing Griot's and 3D Pink 50:50, cheaper than straight Griot's.  When chosing a wash I'm all about minimizing wash-induced marring, and that means good cleaning but especially good lubricity and encapsulation.

The wife has a blizzard pearl Highlander, a 2008 model and over the 6 years we've had it I have tried many different things. Here are my findings on the products that I liked, no need to bable on about the ones I didn't:

AG HD wax - great looks, not too much on durability, Aquawax helped boost it along

DoDo Juice Hard Candy - a PITA to apply and remove, nice looks though and got about 2 months

BFWD - easy on/off, decent 3-4 months

Megs UW - easy on/off, decent 3-4 months, smells good

Poxy - easy on/off, decent 3-4 months, stinks like old persons house

Souveran - KILLER looks, lasted a week! or first wash

My favorite - Prima Amigo followed by Menz Power Lock, I know it's a two step, but I really like the look.

remember - looks are like opinions and opinions are like............

I love Poxy but you nailed it on the smell. It's like baby powder and grandma perfume mixed in one.

Street5927- Nice to see the SRP getting recommended, good stuff.  Never tried their EGP though...

I absolutely love the stuff. My plans are to do my Range Rover with it tomorrow on my day off.

I've been using Wolfgang Fuzion with great results so far

Just bought an Audi S6, but before that had a 4Runner in pearl white.  Used Klasse AIO + Glaze topped with 4 Star Ultimate Paint Protection.  Everywhere I went, had very flattering comments on vehicle's "look".  Maybe "old school" but left-overs from 10 years ago look better on paint than they do in the trash barrel... :D

GonzoBernelli- Good choice of car!

Note that the UPP (which I use on my S8) provides virtually *ZERO* protection against etching from things like bugs and bird-bombs.  Hopefully the KSG (you did do a few layers, right?) underneath the UPP will help protect the paint from such damage if you go that route on the Audi too.

Accumulator,

Yes, several coats of KSG then using the UPP as a top coat's top coat. :)

Thinking about the HD Fusion on the S6 once I can get the OP reduced/eliminated.  Would you recommend it as a "Klasse-like" replacement?

Nick

GonzoBenelli- I don't know enough about the Fusion to have an opinion.  What color is the S6?

KSG is sorta hard to replace as it can be layered into a fairly thick build-film; it's the only LSP I've ever used that actually protected against marring (that was with *MANY* layers).  But despite that, I've basically switched over to FK1000P, using it on vehicles that I previously would've KSGed (or Collinited) and I'll eventually switch my S8 over to it.  It has a "signature look" that probably isn't for everyone, but overall I've found it's the *perfect* LSP for all but one of my vehicles (that one is too trashed for a no-concealing sealant).

Eh, IMO you could do a LOT worse than just sticking with the KSG topped with UPP, but I'd do at least six layers of the KSG before topping.

GonzoBernelli- Ah, OK!  That blue is so pretty that I'd be interested in using something that really compliments it too, not sure it'd be my beloved FK1000P or not (but I'd probably try the stuff out on it just to find out).  I do think that UPP would look great on that, just leery of the lack of protection.  Not sure how the KSG underlayers would affect the look...you'd know better than I would.

Accumulator,

That image is with AIO + Glaze + UPP on the Estoril Blue...

Yesterday did the hood with HD Cut + 10 year old LC orange pad, followed with HD Polish and 10 year old black pad with FLEX 3403.  Now the full sun reflections are now perfect -  no holos, no swirls, no spider webbing and no RIDS - no nothing just magnificent glossy shine!  Weather permitting tomorrow will see the same recipe on the front 1/4 panels and the roof.

Best,

Nick

I like Optimum No Rinse wash and wax. No fuss product with the added protection (albeit minor in comparison to a dedicated sealant or wax)
