Well my detailing has picked up a little and I have a few customers lined up. Im just getting out of my full time job, but im kinda worried about benefits. I have a job offer for part time like 20 hours a week at 10 dollars and hour, but I really dont need that for the money, but for the benefits. Im not covered under my parents anymore, and I know benefits can be very expensive if you just purchase them yourself each month.

i rather just detail full time, and pick up a job at night for extra cash if needed without worry if it has benfits or not. The job that is offered to me is during the day, so that limits some time for detailing, but on the other hand it does offer 5000 a year for college. Anyways, what are you self employed people doing about benefits?

From reading your post you sound very young. $10hr for an adult sucks! why would you want to detail durning the day and pick up a job at night? That will not last very long, a few hards days of detailing and all you will want to do is sleep.

You sound like you are in college or going into college as you like

the idea of the company paying 5000 a year for college. If i was you i would go to college work part time and pick up a few details when you can for extra cash. Then once we graduate college decide what you want to do. Own a detail company, or get a 9-5 job.

To give you some feedback on me, I work full time as an insurance adjuster as i need benefits and a great 401k plan. I own the detail company full time as well. It took a long time to get it where it works out perfect but i thought ahead and planned everything out.

Dont just think about benefits, what about retirement?

What about a paid Vacation, Sick time?

Yeah thanks for the in site on that. I guess im the type of person who wants everything right now and it cant be just like that. Well im 22, i hope you still think that is young haha, anyways yeah im in my junior year of college. I just had this picture of having a full time business that I can run, but I realize there is just not enough time to do everything and one person cant do it all.

Im going to take the job, and work part time doing the detailing, especially since I can only detail till end of august since school starts back up again. I look at it as a regret spending like 2500 or more on equipment, but at the same time im learning about business and it doesnt matter if i do 50 cars or 500 cars, at least im doing something i like.

thanks

Rich

oh yeah the only reason i said pick up a job at night, if it offered benefits but many jobs dont. The 10 per hour job is for home depot.

Corey is true on that one, but if you are concerned, get in touch with the local chamber of commerece, and they will have a ton of information on the topic of insurance for self-employeed, and they will generally offer to cover you for X dollars/month! (they work with their members to provide good discounts)

I'm surprised you are not covered under your parents policy if you are going to school full time.

Most insurance plans will only cover to a certain age, even if you are still in school full time. Sometimes they go for a long time (23 or 24 years old), but others are not as generous.

If the insurance coverage is important to you, make sure to check out what your college may have available for the students, as well as options available for low-income households in your county/state.

yeah my parents only covers me till 23 and that is only months away. Thanks for the advice on the ideas of how to get insurance. Yeah Auto Care USA you are totally right about that, but it is a big chance. I couldnt lay the burdon on my parents if i get sick or hurt they would have to pay for me. They are retired and I wouldnt lay that on them. Without insurance to get any kinda treatment it is hundreds, if not into the thousands. I needed a scan treatment down about 1month ago, it costs almost 2000 dollars for about 20 mintues of work!!! I just needed a wisdom tooth pulled, 8 fillings done also, without insurance Iwould have been screwed!! God, it seems like i have the worse of luck.

Off topic. I brush 2 times a day, dont eat candy or soda, and still all that happens!! Im going to check into all those ideas thanks
