Been awhile - Back w/ '96 Accord V6

Well, it has been awhile since I've been on here....a good year or more since I've been active much. I went through a spell of owning car's that couldn't be detailed or weren't worth my time to detail. First was a 91 Civic that had such thin paint that after one detail, I couldn't polish if I wanted to. Second was a Chevy Prism that I drove when we got my wife a new car.

Well, I finally have a decent car again. 1996 Accord EX-L V6. I detailed it with the following.

Gold Class Wash

Clay w/ Megs. The paint had so many contaminants that I couldn't use ONR as lube like usual. The clay just stuck. I had to use FK1-425 to get it slick enough to move the clay. Clayed the car 3-4 times over most of the car.

PC and SSR2.5 w/ Orange LC pad

PC and Megs 80 w/ White LC pad

Megs 21

Megs 26 (after 12 hours)

Wipedown with FK1-425

Sorry I didn't photograph the entire process...getting lazy I guess. Here's the afters

Honestly, I'm not as pleased with the M21/M26 combo as I was on the Black Integra I used to have. On my integra, this combo was dripping wet. I guess I'll have to start looking into some different LSP's.

I saw you post this over on g5. You should consider joining Hondasociety. That site specializes in 5th gen Accords. Granted people are blunt and give you honest opinions, any and every question you can have has an answer there.

We could also use your detailing knowledge there too.

Thanks guys. I've been browsing around on Honda Society per your suggestion. Nice site and I'll join up when I get a chance.

The car does have the beginning stages of clear coat failure (common on accords I understand) on the roof panel. I'll wait until it gets bad, and then it will be my first respray project. Plus it will be fun to wetsand and buff the roof, which I've never done before.
