How do I get the top of the Bed-Rails back to black? They look so faded it looks terrible in my opinion. Killin me.

Someone said they might even be "BEYOND REPAIR", is this true? I posted here first... http://www.f150online.com/forums/showthread.php?t=278855

I would try some Poorboys Trim Restore. You can also wait a bit and try the new Ultima Tire and Trim Sealant. I was one of the beta testers on the RDT Tire and Trim Sealant and this stuff rocks...:woot2:

Best trim dressing I have ever used.

Those are 100% fixable... you might be able to get away with the easy route, or you might have to take the hard route. The easy route's gonna cost about 15 bucks, the hard route, 50.

The easy way is to use an oil-based restorative dressing - Poorboy's Trim Restore, Chemical Guy's Liquid Extreme Shine, and Chemical Guy's Long Life Trim Gel are 3 of the best ones out there. Just apply them, buff in, and walk away. I find that on particularly bad trim, using the crappy white pad that comes with a PC adds a little extra kick.

If this doesn't work, you'll have to dye it. I've had excellent luck with a dye kit sold by Top of the Line: Trim & Molding Restoration Kit . It's a bit of a pain to use, but the results are *well* worth it.

Is it still under warranty? If so, take it back to the dealer and have them replace it. If it's out of warranty then *I* would go the dye route as you'll get longer lasting results.

When is the release date for that? Their forum is still pretty ambiguous.

Valugard's ETR Kit!!!

Their system was tested independently by Mazda and outperformed OEM parts from Mazda- long story why they conducted a test on ETR, but a good one. Anyway, the kit will restore black for about 3 yrs. There is also a product in the kit that allows you to mix if y our trim is gray. I'm doing a neighbor's car this weekend for the same reason.

Cody..here is what I would do..I have a ford truck also plus have run into this before..the white is oxidized plastic...UV faded..I would use a magic eraser and a citrus cleaner and scrub it down...to get some of the oxidized plastic off..then try one of the trim products...you need to get the UV damaged stuff as much as you can...the magic eraser will clean it off....do not power scrub it...just rub it with a citrus cleaner and water....then apply a dressing

can You post some before/after pics? I feel so unsure. I'm gonna try 303, then not sure after that.

Back to Black is not a dye...but Forever Black is. on my winter car i tried BtB and it didn't do a thing...Forever Black recovered the trim nicely. it is easy to streak with the applicator though...you have to get used to it and wipe off excess, etc.

so the guy at Autozone had an idea that really didn't seem to bad to me... a little bit of Occam's razor... the simplest idea is usually the best.

Just sand it down with rough, then softer sand paper, then spray paint it black. BAM

bad idea? why not? sounds pretty good to me, simple and effective and cost effective too!

I'm with the guy who said paint them with spray paint, however I would use a product called Plasti-dip that you can find at Lowes or search online, its a matte rubber type feeling once sprayed on, and after a few coats I couldn't even scratch it with a screw driver..its cheap, and probably the best bet, and it works on every type of surface especially you guessed it Plastic. Alot of Subaru owners paint their dashes, and consoles and such with it on a forum I frequent.
