Beading at 50 WEEKS!

About a year ago I got some RDF49 as a tester. I applied it to the minivan as it sees the worst conditions of my cars. It's parked 5 days a week near the beach, a refinery, train tracks and numerous diesel trucks. It gets washed (traditional) about once every couple months give or take a week or two. It gets so dirty in that time (wife's commute is 50 or so miles per day) that ONR tends to mar the paint pretty badly. The picture posted below is after I sprayed down (forceful stream) the dirty roof. It was covered heavily with dirt and whatnot. If the final formula is anywhere close I will have gotten my money's worth.

I'll add that it was ONR'd a couple times but that was last summer and for sure not having anything to do with the beading shown.

That's pretty impressive...makes me wish that Ultima Paint Guard Plus came in a smaller bottle and that I hadn't just added a different WOWA product to my arsenal :p

Copy that Mike.:)

Here's a crop from the above picture. It was zoomed to 100% and this picture was cut out so that there is a clearer picture of the beading.

That's INSANE!! Nearly 12 months, and the the water is standing up and beading just as well as Collinite after 2-3 weeks?? I'm really really impressed. I don't think I've heard of/seen a more durable sealant than this...

Was there any QDing done, or just bare RDF49?

No QD on the roof at all.

At 6 months I figured it might make it another couple months but resisted the temptation to "touch" it. It looks now about just like it did at 6 months.

Mike, I am as well. I will be sure to use the rest of the sample.:)

My wife's aunt kept telling me that her car was beading just like it did after it was detailed last summer. She's in Arkansas so I can't exactly keep an eye on it. I didn't think much of it til last night.

SpoiledMan- Thanks for posting this, I'll add my "WOW!" to the list :D That even beats my KSG x 6 experience.

RDF49 slipped under my radar...I don't have a clue what it is :o

It was the beta product for Ultima Paint Protection. While I can't vouch for the finished product as it has changed some since the beta I can say that if it lasts half as long with this little maintenance then I'll be thrilled.

SpoiledMan & TortoiseAWD- Ah, OK, thanks.

Now I have another alternative to consider in addition to FK's FX100

Any caveats regarding what you apply it over?

equal to paintguard plus?
RDF49 was the beta version of what eventually became Paint Guard Plus, but RDF49 was more of a traditional sealant (apply/haze/buff), not the wipe-on/walk-away of the new Paint Guard Plus. As I understand it, the core polymers in Paint Guard Plus that provide the protection are the same as what was in the beta version, but now with a new delivery system.

Beading after 50 weeks???????? I don't believe it, your going to have to share some of that product with the rest of us! :nana: :D
