Bay Wash & Undercarriage

Hey everyone,

Whenever I goto the local bay wash, I just do the sides and top of the car. The undercarriage is always left untouched. I know since its still freezing outside, corrosion isn't a worry, but I would like to reduce the amount of gunk underneath every week or so. Do you have any creative ways that you clean the undercarriage thoroughly?

Cheers!

With or without the use of water?

You can always get a sprikler for a yard and drive yoru vehicle over it and let it run. Helps if you get under there first and scrub some with a brush and a good cleaner.

Hey Intel thats not a bad idea for the summer!!!

For the winter however, I was wondering if any of you had ideas for when i'm in the bay washing my car. Using their wand and brush... (Brush on wheels...)

Is there some reason you don't just spray down the underbody at the bay wash?

That's what I do- make sure you've got at least a minute or so left of spray time, then hunker down on each side of the car and go to town with the rinse water. I usually spend extra time on the suspension and wheel wells as they're full of nooks and crannies....

A friend of mine used to take his Grand National to the spray wand wash, put on his Carhart coveralls, lay down on the floor of the wash bay and clean away. That has to be the most extreme I have personally ever seen. I just spray everywhere I can reach without laying on the floor.

I also go through a drive-thru touchless about once a month when the streets are slushy. It has an underbody flush as you drive in. I have no idea as to what the water is like, but it worked pretty well for 14 years on my Astro van. Your options are pretty limited in the freezing weather.
