Barret/Jackson Las Vegas

Anyone of you gearheads/petroheads watching this years auction from Vegas?

Some show on camera to be really nice, until one with a trained eye looks close when the close up camera on the stage hits some areas.

Still, ain't it hoot!

Wish I still had some big bucks!

You got to have "big bucks" so you can have the toys and end up with "Little bucks'.

Yep. Rarely are the vehicles in tip top Autopian condition but Barrett Jackson is such a treat to watch!

Oh the memories, oh the pain!

Two 50's Merc's across the block, both "chopped", what that takes most would never know.

Chopped one, "z'd" the frame, channeled the body.

Took me and my buddy Bill, a year.We worked our tails off to get the main body work done.

Then, get the glass cut to fit, roll the front and rear pans, fill in the back tail light's, cut in 57 Vette tail lights into the sides, french in an anntena, french the headlights, build a grill out of 53 Chey teeth, etc, etc.

Fit a "full house" 53 Olds with tri-power and an automatic into the bay.( we dressed out the motor, just try to buy or find chrome for engines back then)

Take it from Illinois to Tijauna for a full roll and tuck.

Painted it 53 Buick metallic red, lacquer, etc, etc, etc.

One of the first cars I learned to pin strip on, that was a trip in it's self.

And lost our butts on it a year later when we had to sell it.
