Barkeeper's friend on exterior glass

Used it this weekend on a beater car with lots of dried bugs and stuff on the windows.

Worked like a charm.

Anyone else use barkeepers friend on glass?

I used it on a winshield to take off Rain-X . Did the job perfectly.

It's mild yet effective and won't scratch the glass, unless of course it's applied with a Brillo pad !!!

are there multiple kinds? I think the stuff my mom has is like the consistency of sugar or salt? Which seems abrasive. Otherwise, i need to get this a try, how did you apply it?

I haven't used that brand, but did use Bon Ami to clean up a windshield of a vehicle which had spent the better part of 3 years parked under a tree (don't recall the species of tree). It works!

I am somewhat hesitant to use any sort of scrub on windows. Not for any real fear for the glass itself, but rather because of its close proximity to easily scratched painted and clearcoated finishes.

I have found that clay, already used on paint to the point of retirement, makes a wonderful glass cleaner when used with soapy water as a lube. It works great (even removes the toughest of water spots)....its free, you were only going to throw it out anyway, weren't you.....and it poses no threat to the surrounding paint.
