Bad experience odering directly from GritGuard...

I got my order confirmation today, with this message:

"Thank you for your order. Shipping was an additional $3.00. We apologize for the error on our web site. Your order will ship on Monday 4/30/2007. Thank you very much for your understanding."

Maybe I'm getting crotchety in my old age, but I feel like I was clipped for an additional $3. Hey, if the shipping was calculated at $3 too much I don't think I would have gotten a credit.

I was ordering the whole shebang, the two buckets and dollies and seat, etc; BIG BUCKS for what amounts to wash buckets. I decided to cancel the order, because I don't want to think about getting screwed every time I wash the cars.

Tom, That part is funny as heck. :spit:

I too hate getting jacked around. :goodjob

I would have done the same and canceled my order. And I agree with you about your comment if it were the other way around, I bet you wouldn't have gotten a credit of $3.00

I think I would have done the same thing. $3 is not a lot of money, the fact that they would try to squeeze that out of you tells you something about the company. It was their calculation mistake, they should pay!

Yup, good move on canceling. Ive always always wanted to order that setup, but now Ill never look at them again. :grinno:

Po's me when people try to pull stuff like that.

Make sure they know you cancelled the order over the $3.00 and it was a "trust" thing. If they have any sort of decent customer service IMO they should eat the $3.

Many companies would like to know why an order is cancelled so they can not have it happen again. I too have cancelled things when a call or email comes and they add money to it. Makes me nervous about what else they hide.

you can forward them a link to this thread. :D I guess you can try out the dirt guard wash system for us.

Or the next time you need one, order it thru US Plastics. It's a couple bucks cheaper and their customer service and shipping are fantastic. Plus you can get all kinds of plastic bottles that are good quality and very inexpensive.

This was resolved today. I called and spoke to the owner, he apologized, credited me the $3, and tossed in a microfiber drying towel. I didn't care so much about the towel, or even the $$, as much as the principle of the thing. He promised to address the problems on the website, with it not correctly calculating shipping.

I'm satisfied, mostly because it's not in my nature to hold a grudge. If you choose to order directly from the company, consider allowing some extra for shipping.

awesome tom, glad they were able to make things right! :2thumbs:

Glad to hear that you resolved things with the seller. Not to hijack the thread but I wanted to relate a similar experience. I placed an order with a well known firm that I had purchased from a few times. I was given a total with shipping and paid promptly. Within the hour I received an email saying sorry, shipping is going to be $2 more. I went huh, you're nickle and diming me for $2? I paid it anyways but haven't bought from him again.

Kind of left a bad taste in my mouth as he posted shortly after about buying his new expensive vehicle. I guess I was helping him pay for it! Nice he could afford his new auto but he had to hit me up for a couple of dollars. :hairpull Ok, end of my rant!

Sneek had a good idea, forward the thread of this to the president of the company.

If more people did what you did, this kind of thing would not even have happened. I could tell you business stories that you just plain wouldn't believe, some businesses will try anything!!

This happened to me: I had car insurance with GMAC for the last two years. After the first year they raised my insurance $50.00, I had no tickets or anything against them. 2nd year they raised it again, when I said why, there basic answer was pay or we will cancel you! So, I called State farm and set up an appointment, went there, I got better car coverage and better home coverage, saved over $350.00 on the car insurance!!!!!!!!

Best part, I just plain let GMAC run out. You can do this as long as you have instituted another policy with whoever!

GMAC contacted me saying my policy was canceled (after expiration date), so what was my reply to them, you raised my premiums 2 years in a row for nothing. Answer, OH, well what do you pay now, we will match that. I said it is over $350.00 less than your policy. OH, well thats OK, we will do it for "$5.00" less!!!! I told them to go to the "HOT PLACE"!

There reply by mail was, "you have a $50.00 cancellation few that you owe us, we are sure this is an over site on your part". My reply, they should try to fornicate with them selves! No more mail!!

I just made my own ... you can make 4 of them for bout $8.
