Back to the body shop we go ...

Chicks Dig Comb Overs
I got my Z3 back today and I'm taking it back tomorrow or maybe Thursday - I want to get to see it in full sun first. Looks like rain all day tomorrow too.

Either way it's going back. The "new" left headlight assembly is getting moisture inside - that's going to haze and fog it in no time. :( The bumper cover is not fitting to my liking and has a little nick!!

But on the bright side, the color match looks dead on in the lighting I have available! And there is no obvious overspray!!!

I'm not very experienced at examining body shop work - Am I being too picky on these things or what? I'm at least getting the headlight issue addressed. They will not talk me out of that one.

Also the new paint is swirly - I can take care of it but I'm not sure I should. Should I ask them to do that? :dunno

Glad to hear that you got the car back.
Sorry to hear that it isn't to your liking, I don't believe that you are being too picky. They are getting paid to repair the car correctly.
I would call them and let them know that you will be returning with the car and what you expect.

I dont think your being to picky. They are getting paid to do a job and they need to do it right. Dont let them slide one on you like they do on probably many other people.

I don't think that you're being picky at all!!! :D It should be repaired to the state it was in before the accident!! That's their job & supposed to be their expertise!

How does it look in the daylight today??

I'll let you know when the sun rises! :lmfao

Called the body shop today. They immediately got defensive. Not a good sign. :(

Still raining? :(

I think that is a typical first response, which probably works for them in 99% of the cases, but they don't know the power of MooseBreath!! ;)

You are not being picky ... especially on the headlight issue and the bumpercover not fitting. You might want to make sure they in fact replaced the headlight assembly with new and not used. If you were to trade in the car with the bumper cover not fitting correctly, it would be noticed right off and money would be deducted from the value of the car.

He tried to tell me that there were no swirls on the new paint - that every car is buffed - etc. I just said, "I'll stop by and show you what I'm talking about. Maybe I'm looking at something different." while thinking yea, I'm looking at a car with swirls on the new paint ... :D

Later today, I'll post a new picture of the headlight from this morning. Shows the condensation issue much more dramatically.

Here's the more dramatic shot I promised on the headlight - they will be replacing this - just a matter of how difficult it is to get it replaced. Should be a no brainer.

I'm surprised they actually let you pick it up looking like that. That's horrible on their part, sickening almost.

Well, being new, the headlight looks ... well ... new, until the temperature changes enough to cause it fog.

In any case they agreed with me on every point and are ordering the new headlight assembly, agreed to re-align the bumper, fix the nick and buff the hood.

:dancin

Fixing the headlight shouldn't be a problem because there is clearly a problem with the moisture in the headlight assembly. As far as fitment of the bumper goes, not sure I ever saw a bumper fit like factory after it's come back from the body shop. I recently got my rear bumper repainted, which I was glad to do because the last body shop that sprayed the bumper cover didn't get the bumper to fit like factory. Well the second body shop didn't do any better, even after I told them of the fitment problem. In fact, it came back worse. I ended up adjusting it myself. Hope you can get the fitment issue resolved, but I think the body shop will fight you on that one.
