This is my 1997 Nissan Maxima with 326,000 northeast miles. I got it my senior year in hs and have had it ever since. Two years ago I got an Acura Cl so the Maxima was relegated to backup and now winter beater. After a long stint at my parents it probably hadn't been properly detailed in more than two years, even well before that the most it got was megs 3 step. It has seen alot of road and the finish reflected it. So it was in pretty bad shape as you can tell from the before pics. It has alot of chips all over that are down to rust not to mention many scratches below the clear coat. So i had realistic expectations for the results. This was a two day detail where my brother and i both did our cars.
My process was as follows:
1. Wash with pb's super slick and suds
2. Clay
3 Wash again with sss
4. Polish with pb's ssr 2.5 by pc spread on 3 then work at 5-6(i'll tell u about my 6 discovery later)
5.Polish with ssr 1 by pc spread at 3 and work at 6
4. Sealed with pb's ex by pc at 4 x2 with 18hrs. curing time in between.
Here are the before and afters. Befores first.
Still some work to do but i now know that speed six on the pc is the optimum setting for swirl removal. I couldn't believe the results. Again this car has 326,000 miles.
