Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine

Borrowed some of the new autoglym ultra deep shine off a friend yesterday. I'm from the UK and its a new product that autoglym have been working on and has just been released. I had the full afternoon to do my car with it yesterday and i topped it with autoglym EGP. I have to say my car looks absolutely awesome with this combo. Am very impressed with it. My car is imperial blue and with this combo it looks deep, and wet as!!! I'll try and get some picks up soon

I posted a while back about this new AG product here http://autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50617&highlight=ultra+deep+shine but so far haven't got round to using it. That will all change when in a few days time a friend wants me to detail his brand new black 645 convertible. He's an AG addict and doesn't want me to use anything else so I told him he's going to be the guinea pig for UDS.

I'm interested to hear that you topped UDS with EGP. I was thinking about this yesterday and was wondering whether there would be any potential bonding issues? I emailed AG about this and got the most unhelpful reply ever - basically stating that it's not necessary to use EGP with UDS. I felt like sending one back saying "that's not the point" but couldn't be bothered!

So on that note I'd be interested to hear how it holds up. I know UDS isn't carnauba based but it definitely feels quite oily and want to know whether putting EGP over the top of it is going to be a waste of time?

On paper I am not convinced or tempted by this stuff but keep us informed about any progress.

To be honest neither am I, but I saw it in Halfords and bought it for the sake of it! I might just do SRP+UDS on my freinds 645 so he can test the staying power of it!

I'll probably leave the bottle there as well as I doubt I'll ever use it again.

It sounds very much to me like an Autoglym version of NXT.

"Superb results on dark colours"

"filling and masking minor scratches"

I do find that SRP looks great on dark colours and also does a descent job of dealing with scratches and swirls. I'd love so see side by side pictures of just SRP against SRP then UDS.

so is this UDS spose to be a stand alone product, or as an in between step of SRP and EGP???

or a replacement for EGP in the process?

i'm confused.

From the back of the bottle it says you can use it as a one step product. Whilst I'm sure this might be fine if you're paint is imaculate, I can't help but think it's not going to be great under all other cirumstances.

At the least I'd use SRP beforehand, but will probably slosh some EGP over the tops just for fun!

To be honest I'm not sure where it fits in in AG's product line-up. SRP is really good as a one stepper so why bother trying to introduce another, unless it really is that much better on dark paint?

UDS contains cleaners, so the definite mid-step product between SRP & EGP.

Yeah, but surely you would want to clean the paint before applying SRP  And doesn't SRP itself have a cleaning component?

Depends what condition your paint is in. If ot's swirl free on only has a few really fine marks then SRP will deal with these on it's own. SRP is often compared to AIO in terms of what it actually does.

I compared AG SPR to UDS Side by side on a panel, and they looked very alike, I wont be buying another bottle.

UDS is very alike to the AG Bodyshop range Supreme polish, apart from one is light blue, one light purple, both seem to work the same tho.

According to our Autoglym rep AG are marketing it as a one step product, high in fillers to mask rather than remove problems.

No i think you're all becoming a bit confused as to there the ultra deep shine fits in. Ultra deep shine is specifically meant for dark coloured cars like black and dark blue. It is nothing like SRP really, it has no cut and i doubt it would work well on oxidised paint work. If you use SRP on a car with swirls i've noticed it does nothing for them, it actually amplifies them. UDS is a lot different, it certainly hides them because i have a few on my bonnet until i clear them and after putting UDS on they were definately less visible. I went over the same area with SRP and they became very visible again. UDS is meant to be used as a one step product like SRP, but you're not meant to use SRP before it. UDS makes the paint a lot deeper and darker looking on dark colours, this is why it differs. I suppose someone was right when they said its a lot like nxt. Anyway with UDS and EGP on my car, it certainly looks the dogs!!

no mate i don't think its abrasive at all because it says on the back of the bottle that you can re-apply as often as you like when an improvement in appearance is required

When you need cleaning and a little cut, use SRP. UDS has chemical cleaners, but I hope that they are mild enough not to disturb SRP's protection.

On good finishes it is obvious that it's a standalone.

But who knows, if it fills a lot, why bother using EGP over it?

I love SRP (excellent on plastics!!!) & EGP.

On long term, is EGP stable enough on UDS? Who has experience with it?
