Autoglym EGP tips?

I just got my Autoglym "twins" from David B, and may have some time to play with them on Sunday (otherwise will wait until next weekend).. Anyone care to share some tips and tricks for working with the Extra Gloss Protection?

Seems like it is supposed to be similar to SG, so I'm wondering if wax on / wax off will work? Or apply and let it sit for an hour or two? Should probably read the bottle, but it seems like folks get good results by going against what Klasse recommends w/ SG. :nixweiss

Any opinions on applicators? My order included the DAS bonnets and a Der Wunder Applicator was thrown in for free. Also have the yellow foam applicators and gray finishing pads.

I'm guessing that SRP just goes on and off, and I'll be using a blue Sonus pad on the PC.

Any info would be appreciated.

Apply the SRP as thinly as possible..... It's a common thing that putting SRP on to thick will cause a fair bit of dusting, although if applying by PC this shouldn't be a problem. It is a wipe on/ wipe off product.

The EGP I was never so careful with with regards how much I was applying, being that it's consistency is like water, and I never had any problems getting it off. I always found it better the longer you left it, an hour or so should be fine.

Cheers. :)

I apply it using a spray bottle, put a little in the bottle, mist the foam pad/and or area, I use a yellow "hand" foam pad, then with very light action move the foam pad across the paint, Try to leave it for a few hours to cure, I've found the longer left the easier it will be to buff, but even an hour should be fine, dont worry if you have put too much on, it comes off pretty easy (maybe with a little QD)

Post your findings & pics would be nice.

Thats a good idea PK1..... I've been putting spray heads on numerous bottles lately to see what I can get away with....... My latest is Vanilla Moose with a clearkote spray head and that works great!

Cheers

I first did the "spray thing" with the wheels, I have BBS split rims, and can be an absolute nightmare if you put too much product in one of the crevices and bolts due to the watery consistency of EGP, the spray gives great even coverage, and I'm not spending over an hour per rim trying to buff it off:D

Thanks for the tip on the sprayer :up

I guess you guys haven't tried wipe on / wipe off like folks do with Klasse SG? Maybe I'll try it on one panel :)

I have not tried the wipe on-wipe off but as with Klasse either the Resin or Gloss can be topped with wax.

Just as a side note, I have recently been having some success using a chemical polish (Comma) prior to Resin. It seems to help but I have no idea why

Saw you signature, and being a Hoosier, wandered where you are.

Lots of cornfields in Indiana this time of year.

Live in Muncie, work in Indy off 96th St. That reminds me.. time to make my buggy trip to work. :wavey

I was gunna use an abrasive polish, probably #82 SFP, before the resin. Don't have any chemical cleaners.

I think I like it! :up

I applied the SRP w/ a Sonus green pad on the PC and removed w/ a Sonus MF bonnet. I used PK1's tip about spraying the EGP on to the pad.. worked like a charm! I used very little product to do the entire car.. the bottle should last me for a very long time!

I did two sections at a time, then buffed off. Didn't have time to let it cure for an hour today. Came off very easily. After those two sections, I just did the rest of the car then buffed off. Still easy. Maybe next weekend I'll do another coat of EGP and let it sit for an hour.

It looks like the EGP really brought out the metallic part of the paint and looks pretty darn wet too.

I'll resize & crop the pictures later and post em up.
